Those Pendeltons aren't the early Beach Boys are they?

First, I thought it was The PendleTONES, and second, weren't they The Beach Boys by November 1962?

Yeah- I am just about positive that this is another band.  The BBs already had an album out and a few singles-they wouldn't have used another name for a gig by that time

Sure nuff!  But the article makes me think it's easy to see where the "rumor" of a 1961 Hawthorne appearance started.
 probably with some guy named rory that can't read dates.
