I love seeing how many times Surfin' Safari gets released through sketchy labels as compilations.

One came through today: "Fantastic Music for Christmas (All the Greatest Tracks)" on the Classic Mood Experience label.

1. Heads You Win, Tails I Lose
2. Ten Little Indians
3. 409
4. Little Girl (You're My Miss America)
5. Moon Dawg
6. Surfin'
7. Cuckoo Clock
8. Summertime Blues
9. Chug-A-Lug
10. Surfin' Safari
11. County Fair

I've never understood how this happens, and why it's always Surfin' Safari.

What a great way to end the album: With the girl you like ditching you and calling you a loser.

The BWPS version was also used during the ending of Wild Hogs.

Probably cheaper to license.

I don't remember but its either episode 2 or 3 of the new season, it's playing in the background in Logan's apartment.

I've been through the soundtrack listings of all seven series (no life!) and it's not listed. Embarrassed

S3E21 includes "Catch A Wave"...

http://www.what-song.com/Tvshow/75/Gilmore-Girls/e/3351

...and I noticed "Wendy" (S1E1, S1E4), "GOK" (S1E12) and "Be True..." (S2E11) sung by other artists...

I'm hearing that DW's "You And I" was in a recent episode of HBO's "Divorce"...

Isn't it cool that BBs (& related) music gets featured in today's shows & movies? 3D They're still "in"!

No question, but I thought people might enjoy my wife's summation of the members of the beach boys after I praised her at recognising Mike's voice as I gave her one of my earphones (listening to his book).

"He's the guy who likes the beach that wears the hat. Then there's the dead drummer guy, the chubby guy, the guy who took over from the leader, the guy who got really fat and the short guy with the blonde hair."

Needless to say, after training her up to love and know the beach boys during our 8 years of marriage I've helped her to hit on the most important aspects of each of them!  LOL

Has Brian ever said anything regarding Phil Spector's murder of Lana Clarkson?

From a 2004 New York Times Magazine interview
Quote
It sounds as if you are stuck in a time warp. Who are your heroes?

Quote from: Brian Wilson
Paul McCartney and Phil Spector.

But Phil Spector was just charged with murdering an actress!

Quote from: Brian Wilson
I think he will get off. I think it was an accident.

Phil definitely killed Lana. That said, Brian is fan before murder & it's about music. F.ex. I like Charles Manson as musician, who he killed etc. - it isn't my business, it was before my time. I like the songs he'd written. Same with Brian.

everyone should know Brian does not like talking about 'bad' things, it's not in his nature
nor has it ever been.  He doesn't comment on Manson, rarely talks about Dennis or Carl
other than he misses them.  He never speaks negative of Spector nor has he commented
on his relationship with Scott Bennett since he left.
it's just how he is.

Yes, that too. But for Brian, he cares about music, not the people behind it. Like it should be.

I haven't heard any of their full albums past Love You. Of all the albums I haven't listened to, the only songs I've heard from them are:

Hey Little Tomboy
My Diane
Good Timin
Lady Lynda
Baby Blue
Shortenin Bread
Endless Harmony
That's Why God Made the Radio
Strange World
From There to Back Again
Pacific Coast Highway
Summer's Gone

Other than these, are there any good songs I should hear? I've heard mainly nothing but bad things about every record since Love You and so I've stayed away from them for fear of entering the abyss.

No worries! I tried to avoid any "guilty" pleasures....some would add "Goin' On" to it, and it's decent but the sax solo KILLS it.

Not to crap on the song if you like it or anything, but is 'Where I Belong' considered the best song on that album?
