That footage was shot July 28th 1962: the first known photo of the band dates from March 10th the same year (below), although Alan's mother once made reference to some publicity shots taken in fall 1961.

In your fantasy world, what would be the perfect Vinyl release?
A box set of everything not on vinyl before.

Brian sounds great on "'Til I Die". That's no "love it or leave it" bullsh*t either, he really sounds great (to me), and I'm not hearing much in the way of his voice sounding weak or anything in comparison to contemporary material of the time. Honestly, for that particular song, the mix is a little odd in comparison to "Good Time" or something. If I recall, his voice is kind of buried and panned to the left a bit. Also bone dry (a rarity) and not doubled like it is on "Good Time".
I think Brian's voice from 1968-74 was great.

BTW, do you know the date of this one picture of the band where Mike is playing the sax and Carl and Dave have that look on their face like "who the f--- is taking this picture"?

Is there a list anywhere of songs we know of from the Wilson/Paley sessions and which ones have been "booted"?

Here's a list - probably incomplete - of the currently unreleased Wilson/Paley tracks (* are unbooted, I think). Chain Reaction Of Love (B. Wilson - Paley) Elbow 63 (B. Wilson - Paley) Everything's Alright With The World* (B. Wilson - Paley) Frankie Avalon (B. Wilson - Paley) God Did It (B. Wilson - Paley) Goin' Home (B. Wilson - Paley) Hotter (B. Wilson - Paley) In The Wink Of An Eye* (B. Wilson - Paley) It's Not Easy Being Me (B. Wilson - Paley) Marketplace (B. Wilson - Paley) Mary Anne (B. Wilson - Paley) Must Be A Miracle (B. Wilson - Paley) Slightly American Music (B. Wilson - Paley) Some Sweet Day (B. Wilson - Paley) Tiger's Eye* (B. Wilson - ?Paley) What Rock And Roll Can Do (B. Wilson - Paley)

Touche as I was going off my Landylocked boot. Didn't know Moondreams was released, where? And I am getting myriad versions of Proud Mary mixed up. Who sings the second verse on the Landylocked version? Was? (I assumed it was Paley) But the GIOMH on GIOMH is an Imagination era track and vocal, so the Landylocked version should be noted!

I like both for different reasons. (Is the vocal on the GIOMH album actually from the Imagination sessions, or was it just the instrumental track?)

Hotter (B. Wilson - Paley) Is this a re-recording of the Sweet Insanity cut?

I'm Broke is part of the Wilson-Paley sessions, even if it was written earlier -- the recording features Brian saying "play it Andy," before the harmonica solo.
As for GIOMH, I'd say the released track uses a basic backing -- guitar, drums, bass -- from the Imagination era. The harmonica is clearly a later Mertens overdub, and the vocals sound like the vocals on the rest of the '04 album -- rough.

Is there any shoutier Brian Wilson vocal than that of the shouty vocal of "I'm Broke"?
The answer is no. It is indeed the shoutiest.

How about 'Hotter', though? I've only heard the Sweet Insanity version.
