This is more of an observation than a question, but I didn't know where else to post it....ever notice that over half of the songs on Pet Sounds start with the word "I"?

-I know perfectly well I'm not where I should be
-I had to prove that I could make it alone....
-I can hear so much in your sighs....
-I came along when he broke your heart....
-I may not always love you....
-I know so many people who think they can do it alone...
-I keep lookin' for a place to fit in...

Well, PET SOUNDS could be described as a rather solipistic musical journey, much like BLONDE ON BLONDE but unlike REVOLVER and AFTERMATH. The latter albums reflect a true group dynamic while the former LP's are primarily one vision supplemeted/complemented by various voices/instruments, or (in Brian's case) lyricists.

Can anyone here PM me with private contact details for Bret Wheadon? - the guy behind www.beachboys.com.

I've looked through his website now (and the others he hosts) for quite some time without finding ANY contact info. I have something I want to ask him about.

Ok, so I'm trying to put BB's songs on my ipod in chronological order, and I need help with these songs that go in between albums. I appreciate the help greatly.

When was "Soulful Old Man Sunshine" recorded?

"Sherry She Needs Me" was recorded in 1976? Correct?

The only songs I have from Adult/Child are "Lines" and "Still I Dream Of It". Going in chronological order, should these songs be placed before Love You, or after?

And finally, "Brian's Back", this was recorded in 1978?

Again, THANK YOU!

- November, 1969.
- Brian's vocals, yes, 1976, but the backing track is vintage Wrecking Crew circa SDASN. It's quite jarring to hear the longer edit where you hear the juxtaposition of Brian's gruff lead vocal against his youthful voice stopping the instrumental tracking.
- Still I Dream of It was first demoed prior to Love You however the Dick Reynolds arranged Adult/Child track was recorded after Love You.
- Correct.

Check out AGD's bellagio webpage if you want more depth on any recording sessions, it's the most comprehensive resource you'll find on the net. http://www.btinternet.com/~bellagio/gigs69.html

Late 1981.  Brian & Dennis in bad shape (substance abuse-wise) in the studio.  A real low point...but "Oh Lord" could have been a gem.  They're called the "Cocaine" Sessions of the "Hamburger" Sessions because apparently Dennis was plying Brian with Coke and hamburgers to get him to come into the studio and work.

....The Beach Boys line up circa late '64. Brian, Carl, Dennis, Mike, Al.\

Oops! My bad. I thought you had said "Concert", not "In Concert". Sorry.

100% sure that's Dennis. It's his posture.

EDIT: I pulled out the vinyl and took a closer look - yap, it's definitely Denny.  Smiley

Who's in charge of what's on the setlist? I figure back when Brian was touring pre-65, he would determine that, but after that, who? In the early 70s, did Jack R. make the setlists? Even now, I'm sure all the guys have a say in the setlists, but how do you think Brian feels when they say: let's do It's OK, Getcha Back, etc...what goes on in his head during those songs? Bad memories? I remember on a podcast for Sounds of Summer or Summer Love Songs, Brian was interviewed and asked about It's OK and he said (IIRC) he had bad memories when thinkin of that song. What's going through his head when Kokomo is sung? I feel like Dave and Al would have more input for rarities like Summertime Blues or Don't Fight the Sea but maybe Mike and Bruce decline those...idk, I'm just guessing, I'd love to hear all about it.

When was the last time Mike Love played sax in concert?

Is it always just the Shut Down solo? has he played sax on anything else live?

I wasn't sure where or how to post this, so I thought maybe I'd put it here. It's not really a question, but more of a small favor. Could we go back to getting the 2012 concert setlists on page 1, so we don't have to go through the whole thread?

I was reading in the KTSA/BB 85 twofer notes the other day by none other than AGD and I happen to read about the different mix of School Days that's on Ten Years of Harmony, and while I listened to it on the headphones (sounded a lot better) the only things I could recall that are different is it seems the Capella intro is a bit slower on the 10 years of Harmony record (which I think the KTSA version is way to quick on the vocals) and the bell ringing at the beginning...is there anything else I'm missing? I thought i heard an organ towards the end of the song that sounded different from the KSTA disc but I'm not sure if I just missed it when listening to that version.

Of the work that went into KTSA, I know they considered Loop De Loop, San Miguel, and Can't Wait too Long...was any overdubbing work done on any of those? or were they just considered for release.

I have heard tell of them doing vocal work on Can't Wait Too Long (I think - TRBB would know for sure, I believe I heard it from him) but I might be getting years mixed up.

Bruce was also considering Do You Like Worms, which he referred to in interviews as Roll Plymouth Rock/Roll.
