I've always thought mike was a good looking guy, and the 70's seemed kindest to him. Besides Dennis, Mike was the only one who seemed aware of the changing styles and kept up with them. I even like his farmer-hippie thing he's got goin' here.

Whenever I think of early seventies Beach Boys, what comes to mind immediately is Mike Love's trademark look circa 1971. I think that this particular look really helped shaping the group's image when they were so desperately trying to leave a bit of their old selves behind, for better or for worse.

Brian still looked good in 1969-71. There's a great picture of him and Carl I saw in a Carl Wilson foundtation booklet with their newborns in 1970 and Brian looks down to his I Get Around era weight. As far as Mike looking cool I think he did look pretty hip around the Smile period.

Mike Love - coolest looking Beach Boy in 1974. "Really?" Mike looks like Bonny Prince Billy, and he's cool. Mike should have stuck with the hippy/guru look and writing good songs. It worked, for a while. Compare Mike on Sunflower vs Looking Back With Love.

I have always thought Mike was the coolest looking dude on stage up through 1977 or so. Except for that gold silk look in 74 or 75. Carl and Al were always the most boring to look at for me. Although, they vastly improved with beards. Dennis was so energetic and a great performer. But I was never attracted to him. Nor any of the BBs for that matter. I like the Honeys.

Don't take this the wrong way, but whomever here thinks that Mike Love looks good, must be a male.......there's not enough money in the world for me to get near the guy. Never thought he looked even minimially decent. It's definitely Dennis all the way, with Carl a good second. IMHO as a female.

There are plenty of women who obviously disagree with you as Mike must have doinked more than his fair share.

It's true, I am a guy, and my girlfriend agrees with you, still I think mike is handsome and has cool eyes.

I'm a straight dude, but I will say, having seen Mike up close (across the table at a cafe), his eyes are definitely his most striking feature!

INHO, he has beady eyes......and of course, as soon as he opens his mouth, it's over. Plus, he dances funny!
