I don't know where to put this.  The moderators may decide it belongs in a different forum.  If it does, I'll leave it to them to move it.

I've heard through the grapevine that Jeffrey Glenn (JeffRetro here on the SS board) has passed away, possibly from heart problems.  However, I haven't been able to find confirmation anywhere as to the authenticity of that news, much less more detailed information.  Does anybody know anything?

I've known Jeff on the various BB boards for more than a decade now and, at one point about 8 years ago, even corresponded with him off-board.  He was a great and dedicated collector of BB information.  If he really is gone, it's a great loss to the Beach Boys collectors world!

Very sad.

Is there an online obituary anywhere?  I only knew Jeff through BB fandom and the recordings he did with his band, The Retros (who, to the best of my knowledge, never got a CD out -- he always said it was just around the corner).  I'm sure there's lots about him I didn't know.  If I recall correctly, he worked in the aerospace industry.

Some of The Retros' tracks can be found online (do a Google search).  If you've never heard them, they're well worth a listen!

Have not seen an obit for him just yet, but I'm sure one will come soon. It is a big loss to the pop community  Sad

This gleaned from Facebook - he passed away Sunday from heart failiure arising from diabetes, having already lost a foot due to that condition. He was 50.

Yep, I just lost an associate from work this past weekend at the young age of 50 (cancer).  He was Stevie Nick's greatest fan.  Hard to get used to not seeing him again.

Jeff, in addition to being a great guy was a walking encyclopedia of obscure pop music.  He did a great cover of "Meant For You" on the first Net Sounds discs.  Gone much much too soon. Sad

It is true.  I'm helping some friends of his facilitate some kind of memorial concert here in L.A.  Looks like it may happen.  Stay tuned.

The one where the lyrics go on about Brian's 70s habits? That was seriously funny.

Now aware that there was more than one band known as The Retros, here are links to the places you can hear Jeff's music:

That wasn't Jeff's version.  When I get home, I'll dig up the CD and post it.

 Sad

Very sad news!

When I posted the Starline-topic he was the first to respond. And with that he started of a long discussion on the subject. He's partly 'responsible' for getting me starting up the website. Didn't know him well, but we had some contact through e-mail when we were making the inventory of all variations. He certainly knew a lot on all those pressings.

I wish his family and friends the comfort they need right now to cope with this huge loss. RIP.

Rule of thumb, think BEFORE you post. And THINK how it may affect someone else's feelings.

Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45.

Listening to you I get the music; Gazing at you I get the heat; Following you I climb the mountain; I get excitement at your feet
Right behind you I see the millions; On you I see the glory; From you I get opinions; From you I get the story
