Hmmmm... wonder if the Blue Boarders will give Brian the same kind of hard time they give Mike & Bruce for treading the corporate path. Somehow... think not.

Hmmmm... wonder if the Blue Boarders will give Brian the same kind of hard time they give Mike & Bruce for treading the corporate path. Somehow... think not.

That reminded of something that took place during Brian's appearance at Jazzfest last year. It was during his interview with Harry Shearer, when Shearer mentioned that he saw one of the SMiLE shows at Disney Hall the previous fall.  He commented that the "hits" set moved him just as much as SMilE because (and this is a direct quote) he felt like "that music was finally rescued from casino hell".  The audience (myself included) went nuts when he said that because it's true! It's not the venues that make it cheesy, it's the presentation.

To be fair, I did catch Mike and Bruce on the Today show last summer, and despite BB fandom raving about how much they've improved, I honestly couldn't hear it.  It was average at best.  Yes, Brian did pull some stinkers this past summer, but  I'd rather see a Brian show than Mike and Bruce.  I've travelled far and wide to see Brian shows (the farthest being Los Angeles). Mike and Bruce played in my current town of residence (a 5 minute drive at the most) a little over 3 years ago and I passed up free tickets to see them (it was going to be a birthday present from the in-laws).

I don't really care that either act plays corporate events, I just think Corporate America's not-so-hard earned Entertainment dollar would be better spent on Brian than on "the Beach Boys".
