Question about audio on Knebworth DVD

What the hell is up with Mike's voice? It sounded electronically processed. Was a pitch correction unit used, because at parts I kept getting flashbacks of Cher's "Believe".

That concert was overdubbed a lot in 1981, considering it was supposedly going to be released on the band's 20th anniversary. Nothing came of it, but the master created with the overdubs was used in 2002 (with Bruce omitting six tracks) when the official CD was released.

Parts of that concert were shown in the summer of '81, along with parts of the July 4th 1980 D.C. show, in their syndicated 20th Anniversary TV specal.

I'd suggest asking the question on the Alan Boyd thread.

Those particular vocals from Mike have always just sounded especially throaty, to me. Doesn't sound digitized or pitch-corrected at all, IMHO. It just sounds like a very forced, very nasal, and very throaty Mike Love vocal (more so than usual, yeah). What portions in particular do you detect electronic fiddling, because it sounds pretty much 100% like Mike just singing like that - really not significantly different than how he can be heard elsewhere. I could always be wrong, though!

Now, Summer is the time where there are no strings attached, but we could get together if you come on back. I'd like to tell you, if it's any satisfaction, you'll always be my Summer season's main attraction.

I knew that, yes. But I was referring just to a release, which didn't happen until 2002.
