There was this bug. On the wall.
I had just finished a slice of toasted whole grain bread and peanut butter with my side glass of milk.
I took the glass and put it over the bug who in reaction flew to the bottom of the glass.
Dunk, into the puddle of milk.
Oh no! I worried.
I tried to help him, so I tried to encourage him out of the puddle.
I could see he was still alive, so he hadn't drowned, but would he be all right?
Eventually I got him out of the glass and he walked on my hand a bit.
I took him under the light and put my eyeball about an inch away from him.
He began a thorough cleaning of himself.
He looked just like a person wiping their hands.
He was getting all the milk off of himself, wiping all his legs, his body, his head, and his wings.
I watched this in amazement, as he was doing such a thorough and organized cleaning of himself.
I felt enormous remorse for accidentally dunking him in the milk puddle and asked his forgiveness.
He paused in his cleaning, looked up, nodded, then resumed his cleaning.
Then he flew - the wings still work! - and landed on the wall where I had first taken him from.
He is now my welcome house guest and I shall name him Mykluv.

This thread reminds me of that book ... what's it called ... Metamorphosis? By Coughka

I liked that book, I suppose I feel like I'm just a hideous insect sometimes. I don't read much fiction but I saw that book in the library one day and read it while I was there and then took a nap.

I was once riding a bicycle down a highway and I came upon a butterfly on the road , I got off my bicycle and picked him up

He was dying , but not yet dead

I sat back on my bicycle and began pedaling , I held the butterfly high in the air

"You shall fly for the last time, friend" I said

"Learn now that your life has come to a close , for I carry you into death"

After some minutes I found an open stretch of land off the road , and we began our final adventure together

Far from the road I chose the spot where he would lay and expire , giving up his butterfly encasing

After putting him down I gathered leaves and grass

Kneeling , I simply tried to be there for him in his final moments

Then I placed the grass and leaves over his body and made my way back with tears in my eyes

Great stories, nobody! The 2nd one was over-the-top, though, a little bit ("tears in my eyes" referring to the death of a mere butterfly). I like reading stories about insects. One of my favorite docs - couldn't find the link - is about roaches, despite that I'm squeamish about them. What amazes me is that the insects have the most variety of colors & shades. Some of them are breathtakingly beautiful to look at. I'll soon post my favorites.

Short notice: the cat you see to the left is the best. Not counting your indoor cat who might have habit sitting at your left side when you post at SmileySmile.
