Has anyone from Brian's old inner circle commented on BWPS
«

Has Al, Bruce, Mike, Marilyn, Steve Desper, etc (any of the people from the old scene) ever commented on BWPS? I recall reading Mike dodging a question about it. I'm wondering whether anyone's asked Al or Bruce whether they've heard it and their feelings about it, etc. Same with Marilyn, she saw Brian working on this stuff 40 years ago!!! Gotta wonder how she feels about it. For all we know Brian's music might be dearer to her than we know.
Also by "inner circle" I include Brian's non-band and non-family related friends like David Anderle, Loren Schwartz, whoever else... etc. I have only seen clips of that documentary where David is interviewed, do they comment on BWPS or just the history of SMiLE?

I'm probably wrong, but are the inner circle guys - vosse, anderle etc. just saying stuff about old smile in the doc, and not directly talking about BWPS like: "wow, I really love the way Brian's segued wonderul into look"? I haven't seen it in a while.

that's what i was getting at. BWPS seems to be regarded as a sort of novelty, i haven't seen anyone except van dyke and brian's band regard it as brian actually COMPLETING smile, it's more a "brian redid the old songs with his new band to tour"

Bruce has been pretty diplomatic about it and said that he thought it was sweet but that the recordings weren`t as good as The BBs` versions.
Mike said he hadn`t had chance to listen to it for a long time but when he did he said the same as Bruce.
I agree with them both.

And nobody, instead of starting threads, why don't you try doing some goddam research and listening and watching on your own?

Excuse me for trying to spark discussion on a discussion board.

Nobody, he has a point, as does everyone else here who has called you out for your incredibly inventive yet incredibly annoying trolling you call "discussion". Either do some research, read some books, watch some documentaries, whatever, or stop starting new threads.

Fortunate for you that I am in a good mood or I might've gone through this whole board's history and provided a link to every shitty thread and repeat discussion that's ever taken place here. Face it, you just don't take kindly to strangers 'round these parts and don't enjoy my zesty enthusiasm. If things lean more your way than mine, every newcomer will receive not much more than a "Please See Item #938498 On The FAQ" instead of actual discussion.
This thread was perfectly discussable and there's no "trolling" in it. If that chap with the poor English started it you'd have no problems but since it was this username it's a problem. If you want to run your board like an office, go ahead. But it'll be boring as f***.

I personally don't think it's "trolling"...some people may just be worried about the board being flooded. There's nothing wrong with curiosity. I was once a n00b who knew next to nothing about BB-world. Plus, some of the SS.net longtimers may get a little jaded from discussing the same subjects over and over again over the past few years...
Hey, it's not like thomasogg came back. Though I never really had any beef with him. So what if he was fanatical about Dennis in the same way that Blueboarders are fanatical about Brian?
But speaking of BWPS, I can't believe it's been 5 years since it came out!!

Nobody, it has nothing to do with your user name. It has everything to do with your defenses of pedophilia and Charles Manson. Give me a break.

To get this thread back on point, whose fault was it that
SMiLE
never came out in '67? Thanks in advance.

My idiocy aside, you still did defend sex with underage women and spend a lot of time detailing Charlie's magnetic qualities. Perhaps you can enliven this thread with some of those delightful distorted pictures you make.
My record on the board -- good, bad, crabby, ignorant, smart, whatever -- speaks for itself. As does yours.
The point is, you ask these questions that are perfectly answerable if you actually care about Brian Wilson or the Boys. Do you care about BWPS? Then get the friggin' DVD. It's essential. Can't afford it? Get someone to burn it for you or whatever. Your questions will be answered. Do you care about what Tony Asher did post Pet Sounds? Spend about 30 second doing a google search and you'll find interviews that answer all of your questions.
So do you actually care about BW or the BBs, or about hearing your own voice on a message board? A lot of folks write a lot of stuff here, but it tends to be because we know and love the music. Not just because we enjoy hearing ourselves talk.
Just curious. How many BW/BB albums do you own? I have a suspicion, but I'd like you to confirm it.

hmm, all the CDs are in boxes in the basement but i have most of the major album cd releases, all those twofers. and a few of the documentary dvds, then the keith badman book, the steven gaines book, AGD's book, a chord/lyric book
i'm not a big collector of things on the whole, i like to start fresh every few months and get rid of (or put in basement) everything that's not immediately essential

This is starting to remind me of the cabinessence board in the mid 90's. I'm not on anybody's side here, but I do think that this was a valid thread topic. Yes, maybe many of us know the answer to the question, but are we to chastise someone for not knowing? I looked at nobody's past threads, and they don't seem like trolling to me. Not trying to take sides or ruffle anyone's feathers, but this is what I see, subjectively. Let's not ruin a perfectly good message board with petty arguing and name-calling. There are (or have been) enough BB message boards like that.
Good vibes

Well put, Eric.
That said, further flaming will not be tolerated. Disagreeing is one thing; calling someone an idiot isn't. For the record, Clay had some good points.

I think you need to take a deep breath and to get a grip. Other people are entitled to post any threads they want and nobody is forced to respond.
Also, Bruce posted his support of Brian and asked people to buy BWPS when he was still in severe pain after having a life threatening operation. He never has a bad word to say about Brian and if he believes that the original Beach Boys` versions are superior then maybe that is because many people hold the same view. Deal with it.

I think he meant nobody as in no one, not "nobody" the poster.
