While everyone has been lamenting the lack of music videos on MTV for the past 15+ years, rarely does anyone mention that they still are being produced. And better yet, just as with recording, making videos is easier to do for lesser known bands for less money. I recommend people dig around on youtube for their favorite bands and find some videos. Lacking the gigantic money and pressure to make it onto MTV, they are actually a lot of fun. One I found the other day is for the She & Him (Zooey Deschanel and M Ward) song "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkzRyHa9a6g

I also love the video for Of Montreal's "Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VeIL7juFE0

I can entertain myself quite nicely, thanks. And so here I go with one of the great should've-been-hits of the decade, Fiery Furnaces' "Tropical Iceland." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEvLtTxakrQ

I guess it's ten treadmills with two hidden behind the camera angle.

No problem. There was a music teacher at my old school who used to love that clip and he'd watch it all the time and so that's the only reason I knew it. But yeah I think it's a great video and not a bad little song as well.

Ducktails + Mac DeMarco = humorous music video. Smiley

also, yes, OK Go makes a ton of interesting, extremely-well timed music video. I really liked their Writing's On the Wall video.

ALSO, that new Tame Impala video (The Less I Know the Better)... interesting, to say the least, haha.

Wow, that Ducktails song is great. And of course you can't beat Mac DeMarco. I didn't think anyone on this board would know about Mac!

And yes, the Tame Impala video is quite an experience.

I'm fairly new to Mac DeMarco, but I dig his music. I've only just got into him but I've listened to the album Another One a few times through.

"Mind Mischief" has an interesting music video. I don't think it's on Youtube anymore, at least for US viewers?

I love the Shins' music videos, too. The one for Australia always puts a smile on my face.

That's strange that the Mind Mischief video is gone... That video as well as the one for The Less I Know The Better are quite similar. Amazing though.

Definitely listen to Mac's albums 2 and Salad Days. You'll enjoy! His home production is beautiful.

Salad Days is great. I'm working my way backwards with his albums. Good stuff!

Mac himself has interesting music videos...

Foster the People has some really creative videos, too. I'm a fan of "Call it What You Want":

I also used to be super into alt-j (still like them but I don't listen to them much). Their music is good but their music videos are almost too edgy and weird for me.

This one is a few years old. Emmy Rossum made this for her youtube channel back in 2008. I don't know if it counts as an official music video, because the info description says that she made it herself, just for fun. She filmed the whole thing by herself, just her and a video camera. I think it turned out pretty damn good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nln31YD2a4k
