First time I've ever heard this performed live by the Boys.  It's sparse, but quite good.  Carl is AMAZING.

I have ... I've heard, two different recordings of that track from the same Dutch TV show - one is the same recording as the You Tube video ... the other is a far superior copy, almost soundboard quality but in mono. It's criminal that a quality live soundboard from the 70s of Surf's Up has not been officially released. The You Tube recording sounds the same as the Long Lost Surf Songs boot.

Nope it isn't...  Grin

I have 3 different recordings of this performance:
- a horribly bad version (or transferred onto) on a vinyl boot. (Surf's Down RB0011, 1985)
- the Long Lost Surf Songs version. (which slightly better)
- a version recorded by a good friend of mine when it was shown on TV at the time and which you can hear on YT. (a bit lower key (different tape speed?, and the sound is a bit less "bright" then on the LLSS boot)

And if there's a 4th version which approaches soundboard quality, you make me curious, TonyW...

Rule of thumb, think BEFORE you post. And THINK how it may affect someone else's feelings.

Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45.

Listening to you I get the music; Gazing at you I get the heat; Following you I climb the mountain; I get excitement at your feet
Right behind you I see the millions; On you I see the glory; From you I get opinions; From you I get the story

great pictures on that video, too

I have to say - Mike is my favorite Beach Boy to look at

i really like his styles, overall, in all their wide varieties

plus, mike had a truly great beard, like the classic manly beard, and he looked like some sort of old american outdoors man with it

........

on the song - the end is great, with the CIFOTM drums
