Never heard or read anything about the show.  It was a little before my time.  I've read many times over about their music for Monkey's Uncle and other films, but I've never ran across any information about this.

The song's been released on CD twice. On a Japanese BW productions comp called "Still I Dream Of You" and on a compilation of nostalgic TV theme songs.
