The December 5 1970 NME states that the group were scheduled to play in Rome on Dec 28 1970 and Montreux on Jan 2 1971. There were also plans to visit Yugoslavia (Dec 23-24 1970), Germany on Christmas Day, and Scandinavia on Dec 26-27 and 29-31 1970.  It appears that all these apps were canceled and the BBs tour ended with a show in Brussels on Dec 21 1970 (not listed in the Keith Badman book-but confirmed as taking place).  Also the January 9 1971 Billboard states that Carl flew into Johannesburg, South Africa on Dec 22 1970 with his proteges the Flame.  So there are a lot of questions about the whereabouts of the BBs after Dec 21.  Mike Love's passport (reprinted in a 1976 Billboard) shows that he didn't return to the United States until Jan 25 1971-but he may have been off practicing TM.   There is, however, an actual poster that was printed advertising the BBs Jan 2 Montreux show...so I guess the question remains if anyone can confirm that any of these things happened?  I would tend to believe Billboard Magazine-which did have correspondents all over-but I have never heard of a visit by Carl to South Africa.  Is it possible that the other late Dec dates were canceled-but Carl returned from South Africa and played the Montreux show with the BBs?  As far as Rome goes....the BBs were there for TV apps in 1964 (despite the Badman book there was no concert in Milan in 1964) and 1968 but as far as I know they never played a concert there in the 60s, 70s or even the 80s.   Anyone know different? This may be unanswerable....I tend to doubt the Montreux show took place, as I have seen many European BB sites and no one mentions it ever.  Posters of canceled shows do exist of course

I would find the South African part very interesting to hear more about. But where to verify it I wouldn't know... difficult one...

Rule of thumb, think BEFORE you post. And THINK how it may affect someone else's feelings.

Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45.

Listening to you I get the music; Gazing at you I get the heat; Following you I climb the mountain; I get excitement at your feet
Right behind you I see the millions; On you I see the glory; From you I get opinions; From you I get the story
