does anyone know what book is the best for the value of beach boy items? the most complete one? as you may know, i lost my collection 3 weeks ago today in a fire. i had a rider on the collection and i get today's value on the items. trouble is, i had thousands of items. many from other countries around the world. if anyone knows the most complete book or books to use (esp for 60's material) i sure could use some help. i even had a us test pressing of the single rejected beach boys in concert album. it was warped but rare as hell. gooy mess now.....
thanks in advance,

steve

word of advice to big collectors..if you haven't insured them do so. never thought this would happen to me but it did. hope to heavens it never happens to anyone here but get them insured.

Hi Steve,
So sorry to hear about your loss.  You might want to try popsike.com.  It tracks results of ebay auctions for rare records.  Examples of some of the more pricey items from your collection will probably be in there.  The common (under $20) stuff won't be there... for that, any ol' price guide will probably suffice.

Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45.

Completed Listings at eBay is another source for prices people have actually paid, though it involves more time spent searching.

The guy that sells rare records in Goldmine...John Tefteller...or something like that, has sold a number of rare BB's related articles over the years.....his retail prices would be an interesting figure to quote to an insurance company.
Generally starting well above book price found  in the record collectors bibles.  Some  rare items, such as certain special editions of old cars are often listed as "value inestimable" in price guides.

And I've found in collecting picture sleeves, for example, a relatively flawless sleeve will bring 2 to 3 time the value of a very good picture with a minor flaw.

Like someone said, look on ebay etc to compare prices.
