I'd happily be amongst the first to slag SIP but the live versions from both Wembly and Lorelei, Germany really do kick butt ... as long as one can tolerate some of the abysmal lyrics.

Way back when we had the master plan, we were havin' fun fun fun as America's band, we went out rockin' with-a Rhonda and Barbara Ann... LOL LOL LOL

"Surfers recycle now don't you know
Like everyone from California to Kokomo
We're gonna keep on rockin'
And raisin' world consciousness"

blah! ... that has all the green credentials of a right wing poilitician in a primary rainforest with a chain saw and a bulldozer!

"Let the Wind Blow" transformed into gospel as well--just as good as the studio although surprisingly my favorite version is from IJWMFTT, I know I'm alone on that though.

No, you're not alone - the IJWMFTT version of "Let The Wind Blow" is my favorite as well! I think "Marcella" is stronger on IN CONCERT than on SO TOUGH and, until Mark Linett remixed H & V into stereo, the live versions always blew away the initial studio mix (although I always wished they would include the "my children were raised..." section, which is why it's been cool for Brian and his band to perform the epic length version live).

I have always preferred the life version of "Wild Honey", "Friends", "CATP" and "Holland" material was significantly better life.

Of particular note:

"Aren't You Glad" on "Live in London" should have been released as single.  It has so much more soul than the studio version.

"Marcella"
"Let the Wind Blow"
"Wake the World"
"Funky Pretty"

"All This and That" (I saw a '93 clip on YouTube and the sax solo fits perfectly.  The recordings from Mebourne in 1978 and Largo in 1977 are substandard because Carl's is in poor voice.
