He's nuts - but I have to admit, his comment about Little Deuce Coupe was pretty funny.

I've never seen this one before, it's brutal. I don't know if it's just the poor quality, but Carl looks just so upset when Dennis is acting up.  Sad

Analysis from afar as complete lark:
The Little Deuce Coupe joke is funny. Phil is a funny guy. This is why he then had permission to go on a pathetic rant about "edit records".
Being a cultured guy (I'd say he falls roughly at the halfway point on the Brian Wilson/Ahmet Ertegun spectrum) , Phil is a facile
name-dropper as well. Notice his analogy to film-making: "The Little Deuce Coupe joke didn't cover my ass? Surely, an Alfred Hitchgalo reference will.. he edit too!"

Analysis from afar as complete lark Pt.2:
I guess being single is like/liking a Phil Spector record, because, once you're with a compatible mate, you no longer need them? (hmm..
Brian did say recently that he no longer listens to his Ronettes CD) If I put it this way, might sound better...
Being in love is not unlike complete and utter disinterest in the works of Phil Spector?

It's as if Phil thinks he has a hot tip, or something. Good Vibrations is an edit record! Not so good anymore is it?!
Actually, most people who revere Good Vibrations are either musicians or recording enthusiasts, so they would know
that kind of thing already. Not exactly a scoop, Phil.

RangeRover, do you listen to Phil Spector on headphones or something? May I suggest a sh*tty old full range speaker, instead?

If he says that A Christmas Gift For You is better than Pet Sounds enough times, it might become the truth.

If he says that A Christmas Gift For You is better than Pet Sounds enough times, it might become the truth.

Brian seems sick of people asking him "what about phil spector? why do you like him? bla bla", just for the "[...] I love the way he talks, I like his voice, I like his FACE [...]" answer. Epic, in my opinion.

Now, about the "good vibrations edit recording" thing, I'd like to add that, if Spector is the way he is on that interview, than he's a arrogant (and mad) guy, sorry. The guy revolutionized the way sound was recorded, heard and understood, alright, but some of his over-commercial views about music in general are scary! Like saying that albums are "two hits, the rest thrash"... I know that by that time there wasn't that vision of albums as conceptual art-pieces, but still, I don't like some of his opinions about music recording and appreciation..

Holy God, that is a gem! One of the best Brian interviews, for both the entertainment and the informative sides. He saying that Friends and Wild Honey are his two favorite albums just makes me REALLY happy, don't know why! hahahah
