Um, some people said they would be interested in such a thread, so here it is.  Cool Guy

So, GM officially killed Pontiac, the company who brought us such fine cars as the GTO, the Fiero and the Firebird. Your thoughts?

GM as a whole needs to go down and go down fast. Don't bail it out, let it die.

Best car I ever drove was my uncle's 1966 Corvette. With his permission and company of course. Smiley

GM has never had a stronger lineup - the crisis happened at the worst possible time, and that's a shame. I, for one, hope they'll bring Pontiac (and Oldsmobile) back to life some day...  Undecided

They need to bring back the Nova and the Chevette! And I'd love to see Ford re-introduce the Pinto!

The Trans-Am conversion might be doable in a few months - I've read that there are already some folks who are working on a "Trans-Am" kit. It would be quite easy to install, as you would only have to replace the Camaro's bumpers and emblems, and add some stickers!  Cool

...And your "high-school" ride makes me want to live in the US even more! The average european student usually drives something like that: click here for the link  Tongue

But the car that I really want to see come back is the Yugo! The Chevy Vega, AMC Gremlin, and Dodge Onmi also need to be ressurected! The subcompacts will rise again!!

The Renault Dauphine will return.

It *was* a good car.

Kind of.

In all seriousness, the Dauphine will return indeed - but on the classic car market! The price of "regular" versions has slowly but surely gone up these last few years, and there's an even rarer and more expensive all-electric version if you're one of those "CO2-conscious" people: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henney_Kilowatt  Grin

Thanks. By the way, the article in Time Magazine I referred to above writes about the original Dauphine: 'you can measure its acceleration with a calendar'. Now THAT is funny in my book...
