I have very good reason to believe that the track in question was recorded 3/26/68, during the Friends sessions.

'Tones' on Secret Smile sounds vaguely Friends-orientated to me. But I guess this is definitely a Smile track. (?)

Actually, it's definitely not a Smile track.  It was a Carl production that has no known connection to Smile except the time period.
