To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

retrokid67 posted these great clips in the medai section. Does anyone have more info?

Since Al is wearing a Giants-shirt (ironic, isn't it?  Cheesy ) and Octopus Prime mentioned that Foskett's presence makes it December '81 the earliest, I looked through AGD's site and if I haven't overlooked anything I guess it's September 18th, 1982, Candlestick Park, San Francisco CA. Am I right?
EDIT: It would be our first 1982 entry on the list btw

This site makes it look like 83, Candlestick Park however some of the pictures don't match the dates.

The pictures from different years but going by the dating on the site Carl, Al and Dennis all wore the same clothes in '82 and '83.
There's one that is dated '83 with Mike wearing some white shirt and pants (see below) and Dennis doesn't look wasted enough in the footage for it being from 1983 I'd say. So I guess '82 is correct. Thanks for the link, I had forgotten about it!

He comes in the picture about 10 seconds into "It's ok". Good catch Rob! I didn't realize it before you mentioned it!

Cheers, I didn't think it looked like him.

Dennis managed to look young and old at the same time, cool as always!

Do you count this, Rocker?

It is what it says but well into the last minute you will see a soundcheck/rehearsal before appearing at Jay Leno. I checked year-by-year before submitting. Nothing except Al there for "2010".

Definitely '82, based on the inclusion of "It's OK", the presence of Adrian Baker, and the fact that Kowalski is playing auxiliary percussion rather than doubling Dennis on a second drum set. These clips also determine for us that Brian was absent from this September '82 Candlestick Park gig.

I could update the link for the May 20th 1988 show. That's when they played "This whole world" and "Forever" a.o. The new link features the whole concert (more or less). What do you think? Is it professional shot or amateur footage of the in house screen?

Thanks to metal flake paint I added a link to a report on the show on July 6th 1993 which also features some interview snippets. As AGD's site mentions, this show was recorded as well as a couple of others from this tour.

The band did a live set on the Easter Seals Telethon in 1979. According to Getty Images pictures of the event, it took place in Los Angeles. Getty Images dates the pics to March 25, while AGD's Bellagio site shows May 25 as the date.  There's only apparently a very short clip on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ob7ILaSvW4w

But I have the entire show buried away on VHS somewhere. This is the show where *Mike* sang the lead vocal on "Good Timin' for some inexplicable reason. I think they did at least three songs. "Good Timin'", "Surfin' USA", and I believe "Good Vibrations."

Interviewer: "Do you ever fight or get tired of each other?"
Bruce: " I've got to get out of here."

 LOL

...followed by Mike talking Wilsons, drugs , blah, blah..

Digging the Getty Images pics of the event. Brian was trying out an alternate "look" apparently.  3D

Maybe "we're not nuts or nothing"?  Or I sort of hope it's "we're not nuts for nutmeg".
