This may not be in the right section, so feel free to move it if need be. I just got the new POB/Bambu set, and I LOVE IT!!!!! In the past few years, the only POB songs I knew were River Song and Thoughts of You. So all this talk of POB being a "masterpiece" kind of left me in the dark. I've just discovered all these incredible songs like Friday Night, Under The Moonlight, Album Tag, Constant Companion, etc. I know POB/Bambum has been talked about to death, but I just HAD to talk about it. I'm all giddy!  LOL Wild Situation just might be my favorite song of all time.  Grin

It's so cool watching fans discover Denny for the first time or all over again.

Brian, Dennis, & Carl

Awesome! I think his re-discovery across the board is long overdue.

I'd love to see a comp of Dennis's released and unreleased material from 1964-1983. "Denny's Drums," "I Don't Know," "Be Still," "Little Bird," "A Time to Live in Dreams," "Never Learn Not to Love," "Be with Me," "All I Want to Do," "Celebrate the News," "Slip on Through," "Got to Know the Woman," "It's About Time," "Forever," "Barbara," "Wouldn't It Be Nice to Live Again," "Sound of Free," "Lady," "All Alone," "Make It Good," "Cuddle Up," "Carry Me Home," "Angel Come Home," "Love Surrounds Me," and so much more... including the songs he did with Brian during the 1982 "Cocaine Sessions."

I wouldn't say I am a new fan by any stretch, but I just picked up the re-release on LP and it sounds wonderful!! Really love the mixing on the vinyl release, very warm, full sound  Grin

The new mix did that for me on "Time," especially the trumpet solo...

I like the Beatles a bit more than the Boys of Beach, I think Brian's band is the tops---really amazing. And finally, I'm liberal. That's it.

My only complaint about the POB/Bambu CD set is that the "real" ending to "Wild Situation" was edited out. The original ending was great! Grin I have a few questions that maybe somebody could help me with:

1. If "Love Surrounds Me" was included in the set, then why not the original version of Baby Blue(Eyes)?

2. Why does "Are You Real" suddenly end abruptly? IS that how it was supposed to end?

3. Was "Holy Evening" part of Bambu? It's included in the bootleg versions.

Actually, Jon explained to us that the line was edited out by Denny also. The version we had was not the final edit.

I like the X rated one better too, but of course the sound is better here.

I honestly can't complain about a single thing on the new POB/Bambu release. It far surpassed my expectations, and that's saying a lot considering I've been a 'Dennis-fanatic' for half my life now. I'm glad so many people are discovering his music, it's fantastic!

I've been a massive fan of POB for 15 years ever since I found a vinyl copy at an old used record store in Santa Monica for $20 (which I thought was a ton of money) Razz

I'd heard various mutations of Bambu via boots but never really took to it, but after hearing the new release, I must admit to playing it more often now than POB. The tracklist they put together feels like a coheseive album to me. I wouldn't have changed a thing. The shambolic feel of the album is, I suppose a sign of the spiral Dennis was entering into, yet it also feels like an exciting new direction. For some reason, Bambu sits right alongside "Helen Of Troy" by John Cale for me. Not sure why this is, but if anyone knows that album, maybe they could explaine.

Is it just me or does Dennis sound like Elvis Costello on "Cocktails"? I know Costello is a HUGE Beach Boys/Dennis fan. I wonder if he's heard it!
