While they say "Pisces rules the dance", Brian Wilson is not a Pices. B' Dub is a Gemini. Not only have I spent years reading about and studying Gemini's - both reknown and "home-folk" - I too am a Gemini.

Im not persuading anyone to alter their beleifs, but read a good astrology book, not a horoscope but a book on the subject of astrology. Most folks born in the Gemimi timeframe, in the majority, not only experience struggles similar to our beloved Mr. Wilson but also have crystal-clear hazel, blue, green or gray eyes . Go ahead, read a book on astrology - Brian is TEXTBOOK Gemini.
Man, can I relate to this guys plight. Gemini's are twins for a reason: they are both leaders and recessive intorverts. Gemini's live in a world that only exists within their own heads. Gemini's have an obsessive compulsion to relay information, thoughts and ideas to others. A Gemini could either be a motivational speaker rousing the masses or a Gemini could just as easily be a recluse hiding away from the world and it's inhabitants in a cardboard box- or sometimes a Gemini could do both at the same time. Hence, the glorious BDW.
It is easy to blame Murry's abuse or Mike Love's 'formula theory' or the Boys 'lack of support' for Brian's recession, but ultimately, it is Brian's interpretation of the people and events around him that influence the way he reacts. Brian's reactions are based on his survival instinct for a liveable mental state. Unless Brian had retreated to his bedroom, just when HE deemed it 'necessary', Brian would certainly not be with us now.
His years in the bedroom were probably a saving grace that no 'thereapist" could have induced, at that time. Like the little weasel or not, Landy gave Brian, initially, a 'unconflicted' third party to reflect off of. While Landy 'helped' Brian to 'come back out' and play, Landy probably wouldn't have been as effective had he encountered Brian before the bedroom years.
Face it, Brian is an extremely intellignet and educated guy. Brian knows his stuff. Just listen to him speak on the early session tapes or listen to him talk in later years like on Mike Douglas or the IJWMFTT DVD. While depression may be looked upon as a sickness, or phobia, or depression, it is for a Gemini, in it's own relaity, a necessary process to continue the existence of the Gemini.
Once you know something, or once you reach a certain point of realization, you can never escape it. Brian is in an extremely insightful individual and his Gemini traits dictate that he MUST try and share this information with the world, and for Brian, it is through his music. Brian has indeed found a place of joy, realization and of revelation that we all have shared in, and only because Brain explored this region - even if only in his mind - a relayed it to us.
Brian has always been perfectly sane, probably even today - as are most Gemini's. His decision to retreat from the world and his responsibilities was not a 'breakdown', but a necessary part of the process of being a Gemini. Gemini's, because they are natural leaders and usually garner quick support from followers, tend to carry the world on their shoulders out of a love for others.
Brian Wilson is our Jack Nicholson and the world is our 'Cockoo's Nest'. A sane man in an insane world. For those who haven't seen the film, please do. There is a reason Cuckoo's Nest swept the Oscars, and there is a reason that Brian Wilson has 'swept' the world.
Brian is indeed the King of the Gemini's - a prophet, a poet and a King.
