Just listening to all the Bambu stuff on the Dennis Wilson reissue.  I've heard some of these tracks in bootleg form and was surprised to hear that they altered "Wild Situation" somewhat.  At the end of the version I'm familiar with, Dennis closes with a rather adult-oriented line ("She got it hard, and now it's a big erection").  That line has been removed from this version.  Considering that they recorded Dennis having sex with a prostitute and tacked that to the end of the Beach Boys' song "All I Want To Do", I'm wondering why they cut this line out.

"They" was more than likely Dennis Wilson in this case. The booted version with the words you described was from an ancient reference mix, but those words had been removed from the 24 track master long ago...before Sony/Legacy or the current producers got involved in this endeavor...by decades. It seems Dennis himself didn't want that line on there and erased it.

I think it was a good choice to remove it.  It's funny ,that was one thing I was wondering when I heard this would be released.

I'm picking up my copy of the new POB/Bambu tomorrow at the post office (missed it by just a few minutes as the postman was trying to deliver it!)...I'm glad that this line has been taken out...I've always thought that this was a cool song, but that last line always made me feel a little weird.

What about the vocals on the end of "School Girl"...I suppose they were missing from the multi-track as well?  And I noticed the lead vocal on "He's A Bum" is different than the booted versions, plus it's missing the harmony.

Jon, was it Dennis too who erased the Brazilian drumintro for Constant Companion? It's a real pity that was deleted from this great great song. When reading the complete liner notes there was a comment from an engineer who was the last one to work on Bambu with Dennis. He said that Dennis was out of it and erased stuff he shouldn't. Constant Companion immediately came to my mind!

Bye,

Well we have the boots so the old mixes aren't gone. This version is so much better then the boots ever were as a whole though I actually laugh out loud at the erection line because it's so Dennis.
