Hey everybody,

I saw a really rare picture of Brian and Paul McCartney on this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrVNhmkM2uY

The picture comes at about 55 seconds in.  Does anyone have a better quality copy of it?  It seems like it is from 1967.. possibly from when Paul played Brian A Day In The Life when he visited him in LA???!  Anyone know anything about this pic?

If I'm not mistaken, it looks like Paul is holding two carrots.  Maybe for the Vegetables sessions?

I don't know. Is it me or does it look like it might have been photoshopped?

Yeah that's what I thought when I first saw it. I say it's fake. Why wouldn't we have seen it somewhere at some stage or at least heard about it?

I've been known for shouting "PHOTOSHOPPED!" when in fact there was no reason to, but this time it sure looks like a fake.  Tongue

I'm not sure about that...I have quite a collection of music mags from the 60s and there are lots of BB photos one comes across that never made their way to a book.  It is certainly more than plausable that someone (an engineer, Derek Taylor, Al..anybody) would snap a photo for posterity.  It would be odder to think that no one did.

Yeah I had the thought that it was fake, but honestly it's really hard to tell just seeing it on YouTube.  Anyone have a better quality copy of it on their computer?

Here's the picture in question:

I always thought it was a little odd that no one had taken photos of Brian and Paul in the studio in the 60s (then again, did anyone take them during the GIOMH session, other than the single shot?). It was a historic moment, and not just in retrospect. Or maybe Brian wanted it kept secret or something.

Well, that is definitely 1967 Brian and early 1967 Paul. And has anyone ever seen these particular shots of each man in other contexts? The people on this board seem to have seen every other 60s Brian photo-- do you recall that this was taken from a different one?  I wonder where the photo was found.

Looks awfully fake to me. It looks like they've taken a photo of Paul in a control room and stuck Brian in. Brian doesn't match the rest of the photo, although the crummy quality has probably covered up some of the most obvious artifacts of it being fake.

Also, without digging out my "Recording the Beatles" book, it looks like that's an EMI mixing desk from Abbey Road (which would make sense if this is a Paul photo with only Brian added in). So unless Brian visited Paul in London in 1967, I think the other elements of the photos are a giveaway.

If this is a fake, somebody can probably dig out the original photo of Paul without Brian.

Just broke out my "Recording the Beatles" book to make sure I was getting the mixing desk right, and that indeed appears to be one of EMI's "REDD" desks. So that's a pic of Paul at Abbey Road in 1967 with Brian photoshopped in, unless Brian has been documented as having visited the Beatles at Abbey Road in 1967.

It's fake the picture of Brian is in the John Milward book in the front collage. Also seen the Paul picture I think in Beatles Book Monthly.

Hi, I'm the director Grin of this video and found the Macca pic on the net. It's not my creation and I didn't know it's fake until now. It's a funny coincidence that the very last picture in the video gives the answer...

At first I would've swore it was VDP with his head replaced by Paul's.

What about the YouTube video that had a brief clip of a home movie of Paul at Brian's house, wearing the white silk suit and red patent leather shoes?  What video was that, and is it still up?
