It looks great - and it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't a little bit of, ahem, influence from the bootleg copy I bought last year. They're nearly identical!

Are the powers that be taking a little bit of artistic licence from the fans / bootleggers?

EDIT: The pictures are below my intial post. If you can't see the pictures,  Here's the front and back I found on the 'net...

The inside is pretty much identical...

Well, point taken but they're nearly identical in terms of layout. The label must've have at least seen the bootleg one before...

But that's what the original cover looked like, too!

Believe me this package is nothing like the bootleg, there are pages and pages and pages with tons of previously unseen photos plus memorabilia collages, and multiple essays and lengthy new credits...plus its oversized with a fold down cover...just wait till you see it, its really beautiful. Actually the image above does not reflect how deluxe it really is.

I was confused by this - the inside spread of both bootleg and official release in June are identical, Then it dawned on me that presumably the bootleg took that inside photo layout from the original LP, and obviously the new release is doing the same - Is this right?

Yeah... but that's only two or three pages out of something like 30 in this new set.

Jon, on the pic at the top of this thread there looks to be a repro hand-written letter beneath the packaging, am I right? Can you enlighten us (or should we wait and see!)

Thanks,

You know, this is the only thing I was worried about for the set. I really, really like it when these archival releases have packaging that exactly reproduces all of the original artwork. Thankfully, this doesn't look like Rhino's screw-up with the Wilburys release, which only had smally, tiny pics of the album covers. I guess we're all lucky it landed at Legacy.

Thank you so much to everyone (even though most of them won't read this) who had a hand in putting this together!! I'm just so excited about this release and it's just so great that so much love and care has been put into this. I'm just so glad that this set will most likely do Denny's work + legacy justice Smiley

Its a repro of the cover of one of the first 300 promo copies that DW sent out for POB, they were plain white covers with a handwritten note from him...pretty cool...i have one thanks to a very generous friend.

Just curios, what would the cardboard LP poster Caribou released in conjunction with the Australian/NZ debut be worth these days?. It's the LP mugshot front and back made to look like a proper portrait with sections of the foldourt booklet marking the right hand side frame?

Very cool! Thanks for responding - just to clarify, did Dennis write each of the 300 notes or was it a single note printed out 300 times?

And I've got to ask -  given the fantastic response this release has already had, are moves afoot for any follow-up?
