Yes-I'd love any help with finding more gigs-I know that there are a bunch missing from 1979-they are hard to find-trust me. But don't be shy with any memories-I'm happy to look into something-if I get a lead

It was during this week-long residency that Dennis & Mike had an onstage fist fight, the
upshot of which was that Dennis didn't play with the band again until the 1980 UK
  summer tour.

Dennis joined the band earlier, he played on the other Europe concerts as well. On youtube you can even see a little bit of the Netherland concert with him.

Yes, Dennis rejoined the band for the opening dates of the Euro '80 tour in Scandavia.  He also played the Aug. 11 '79 Honolulu show as a one-off (according to Domenic Priore, who was there).  BBFUN also said he was on the short November '79 mini-tour.

When you say mini-tour-are you aware of any other shows besides the Colorado one? That is the only one I know of

Does this now mean that Dennis played drums on "Oh Darlin'"?  This would be news if so.

Thanks for pointing out a possible confusion - no, only on "Johnny B. Goode".

One has to assume that the reason he didn't play again after Nov 79 until June 80 was that the BBs weren't satisfied with his behavior on that tour-he really seems to have made the big decline that year.  Although-I have heard about his bad behavior on the Australia tour-he looks quite fit and healthy in the footage that survives. By 79 he starts to have that I don't care anymore look

Who sings Surfer Suzie? Also, pardon me if I've missed it, but what was the "Dance, Dance, Dance" session?

I believe Surfer Suzie is an Al song that he has never completed.  Dance, Dance, Dance is a bit more mysterious-but AGD believes that it is probably a Mike song for his solo projects-not sure if it is a remake of the 1964 BB song...Maybe someone else will chime in here....don't know why I tried to answer this- I haven't heard either song...Not sure I want to either!

Surfer Suzie was written by Ed Carter.  Not sure who sings lead, maybe Al.

Surfer Suzie is supposed to be pretty good, but left off because of "politics", right?

That's what I hear...the band, or some of them, didn't want to give Eddie creidt.
Meaning one or more of them probably cowrote it with him, and didn't feel like sharing.

Al sang lead on it.  I got to hear it once by happenstance.  It is pretty good, but lyrically it's very much in the whole "Sunkist-retro vibe."  IIRC it's about a Japanese chick coming to L.A. and becoming a California girl.

Yeah, it's a cute little song.  I actually kind of really like it.  In addition to Suzie, there's a guy called Malibu Dave.
