Strange...  Shocked Evidence that Brian has a contract with Capitol for TLOS?

You don't have to be on EMI to record at the tower, you know.

How are the studios in there anyway? Has anything of landmark status been recorded there? I know a lot of other studio history but oddly enough, Capitol Tower has never struck me as a studio....

I think the Surfin' Safari album was recorded at Capitol. Carl also used Capitol Studios in 1969 to do the vocal overdubs for Our Prayer and Cabin Essence.

Didn't Dennis record his "ad libs" for All I Wanna Do in 68/69 at the tower?  If so then that makes it a landmark!  Smokin

Actually, the article doesn't say Brian was recording at the tower. It says he was using the echo chambers, which is a different thing. I recall reading that Joe Thomas sent some of the "Imagination" tapes to to the tower for added echo, as well.

What has it struck you as?

In addition to the already mentioned Beach Boys stuff, Sinatra recorded at the tower during his time as a Capitol artist, as well as Dean Martin...Nat King Cole, Les Paul, Ray Charles, Lou Rawls, Glen Campbell's Al De Lory-produced stuff, Kingston Trio, Bobby Darin, and many more.  Certainly any LA based group or artist on the label would have ended up doing something there.

The studios are all still in operation, A is not quite the same, they reduced the size of it, when I was in there you could recognize it a little bit from the Beach Boys pics from the SS sessions.  I didn't really go in B, and studio C is basically a mixing suite from what I can tell.

Yep, lots of people just ISDN it in now, or whatever.  Shows you how great those chambers sound.

Beat me to it.  It's funny how tunnel-visioned a fan base can get.  Judy Garland recorded there as well, I imagine that Peggy Lee and Johnny Mercer did, and I'm sure we're hardly getting started. And I'll bet those walls are just dripping with Bozo The Capitol Clown karma.

Rule of thumb, think BEFORE you post. And THINK how it may affect someone else's feelings.

Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45.

Listening to you I get the music; Gazing at you I get the heat; Following you I climb the mountain; I get excitement at your feet
Right behind you I see the millions; On you I see the glory; From you I get opinions; From you I get the story

The trick I came up to distinguish them is that "Want To" is much more agressive than "Wanna" because of the hard T sounds. "Wanna" is a word used among friends. "All I Wanna Do" is alot more friendly and unaggressive than "All I Want To Do".
