I think the Beach Boys deserve a museum.  I nominate myself to curate.

Don't the Beatles have one in Liverpool?

Here's what I imagine:

The museum would house all kinds of memorabilia, instruments, photos, etc...

There would be screenings of relevant films.

A full-size replica of Western Studio 3 with audioanimatronic session players playing the California Girls session in perpetuity.

A smaller facsimile of Western would allow visitors to step up to the mic and record their own vocal harmonies.  An engineer and vocal coach would be employed to guide the visitors, and they would be provided with a CD of their efforts.

Mike Love's stage wardrobe would have it's own special wing.

A conference room for special events and concerts would exist.

It wouldn't have to be big, just a nice little museum.

Brian's ear.
But didn't Bob Dylan already convince him to donate it to the Smithsonian?

Not sure if a Beach Boys Museum would break even but I do think a Museum covering the LA music scene in a old studio like Western would be interesting though.

VDP as tour guide. Not only would it guarantee him regular work, but I can't think of anything better than spending an hour or two following him around, listening to him talk.

I don't even care if he talked about the Beach Boys, or if he did, whether he told the truth. It's just fun to listen to him talk.

I'd rather have EastWest use that space as a working studio than install audioanimatronic Hal Blaine in there.

I'm ok if they are actually using the space as a studio.  My fear is that it will get torn down and a Lowes, Micheal's, or Pet Smart will be built in this "holy" space.  Isn't the RCA Studio in a Nashville a museum now?

Audioanimatronic Hal Blaine...just don't do Carole Kaye or she'll sue.

From what I understand, Doug Rogers got EastWest protected as a historic site, so it should be OK now.

Don't worry about Carol, she'll be in the Motown museum.

Carl's Rickenbacker would look cool on display.

Actually, Carl's Rickenbacker is on display at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame & Museum in Cleveland...and it looks cool.

For the first year that the Hall Of Fame Museum was open ('95 - '96?), both an original SMiLE album cover slick and a copy of the original SMiLE booklet were on display courtesy of Frank Holmes. I doubt they will appear there again anytime soon - the story I heard was that Frank requested the items be returned to him after being on display for six months or so and, when the museum failed to comply, Frank traveled to Cleveland himself and demanded the items be given to him!

I'm pretty sure there is also one in the foyer of the Hard Rock Hotel in Bali.

Ofcource any Beach Boys museum should have a dark little room off to the side where patrons require a password to enter with a nod and a wink from the curator and that room will be full of every BB/BW boot ever released.

You know, Carl probably owned, like, 10 Rickenbackers over the course of his life.

Can I make a request?  Please include an interactive animatronic Murry that tells us to "loosen up," "be happy," & ask us if we've made too much money.  Thanks.
