Thank you. Nice article. I didn't know Brian and Stan Love still have any kind of contact...

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Yeah, or that Brian and Stan sit next to each other at basketball games...

Interesting take on the Beach Boys from a Stan/Kevin Love perspective.

I read this as a lifelong UCLA fan...but was grateful for the Beach Boys stuff.

Stan's perspective is very interesting.  He's kind of the voice of reason I think people should pay more attention to in the Beach Boys story-telling.  He's very sympathetic to Brian, but Mike is his brother, so I think it's a balanced view he has.

"The Beach Boys were the worst thing that happened to us" was an interesting thing to say, and I'm sure it's true.

I see he left out the part abput beating up his cousin Dennis and his brother Steve  punching Carl and embezzling some funds. Nice article on Kevin, very hard for me to take Stan Love seriously or begrudging him any respect considering his role in the Beach Boys. Interesting how he says the Beach Boys were the worst thing that happened to their family. Not sure he and Steve were the best things to happen to the Beach Boys either!

If he had got into that, he'd have to also tell the journalist about Brian's brothers giving him drugs. THEN you guys would be bitching about the article. Tongue

Anyway, when he says "the Beach Boys were the worst thing that happened to us", I don't think he means that Brian, Carl, Dennis and Al screwed or hurt his family. The Beach Boys machine brought the three Love brothers together in a family business and their relationships were never the same after that. I've read that Mike doesn't speak to Steve.

Perhaps then it was not a good decision to have all of the Loves involved in their roles then. Not sure what qualified Stan and Steve to do their respective jobs?
There were also other ways to handle the situation instead of getting wasted one Super Bowl Sunday and deciding to go beat the living snot out of your cousin. I didn't see Stan consulting any psychologists to help Brian?

From the article:      "From that strife came fistfights, bitterness and court battles."

I guess if he was confronted about all that stuff, he'd say that he made a lot of mistakes and had some terrible regrets, like a lot of us.  Don't know what he could do to make it better now, except have a good relationship with his remaining cousin, which he seems to. Love and mercy to the Loves and Wilsons.

Especial L&M to the Loves today, after we (UCLA) were slaughtered yesterday.

Hopefully it will motivate Kevin to stick around another year...

Yeah, I hated that.  I was really rooting for 'em.  A great kick to see  him play, though. I hope he'll stay if the Love family is not too hard up for cash. I hear he's suing the other four starters.

Hey, well, Dennis beat the sh*t out of Mike on at least one occasion right? See...... we read about all these horrors from the distance of being fans of the music and therefore we see everything from through that veil. And hindsight is always 20/20 (no pun) so, it's too easy to just assume what behavior would have been correct in any situation. When your friends/cousins/brothers ect, do stupid/bad things, we feel genuine emotions! anger/sadness/rage/pity/depression, and too often we act out of those emotions and not out of sense.... Anwyay, enough of me playing Dr. Landy.

The part I keep thinking about is.... imagine spending your life trying to get out of Mike's shadow!!!!
