I just made a semi-fictional Beatles reunion album by compiling from the sources Anthology 1 and 2, audio from the Anthology dvd set, Paul McCartney's Flaming Pie and it's sessions bootleg which features contributions from Ringo and George Martin, the Lennon Anthology, the fan mix of Now and Then and selections from the Virtual Beatles bootleg which has John, George and Paul demos that two Argentinian musicians put overdubs on in the style of the Beatle reunion tracks. I used the Spector version of Let it Be as a model and put behind the scenes and joking around stuff between tracks.

1. Free as a Bird
2. Raunchy (from the Anthology dvd set)
3. I Don't Wanna Do It (overdubbed George demo from the Virtual Beatles)
4. The You're a Bastard Song (Paul and Ringo joking around while recording Beautiful Night, 30 second excerpt)
5. Beautiful Night (from Flaming Pie, Ringo on drums and backup vocals, overdubs arranged by George Martin)
6. You Saved My Soul (overdubbed John demo from the Virtual Beatles)
7. Help Me to Help Myself (overdubbed John demo from the Virtual Beatles)
8. Real Love
9. Blue Moon of Kentucky (from Anthology dvd set)
10. Your School (overdubbed Paul demo from the Virtual Beatles)
11. Let it Down (overdubbed George demo from the Virtual Beatles)
12. Thinking of Linking (from the Anthology dvd set)
13. Goodbye (overdubbed Paul demo from the Virtual Beatles)
14. Now and Then (fan overdub mix of John demo found on youtube, Beatles samples used in the style of the Love release)
15. Grow Old with Me (George Martin overdub version from Lennon Anthology, Paul is believed to be on bass although some fans have doubt)
16. Great Day (from Flaming Pie)

Very interesting, MusicMachine. It's almost like another Beatles album.

What's the story behind "Great Day"?

Well, SJS, I know you love these things, so when I was listening to Living in a Material World earlier today and remembered having done a "final" Beatles album of 1969-71 type material before, it occurred to me to put together a 1973 "Beatles" record and let you know the playlist. After all, John, Ringo and George each had an album that year, and Paul had two.

However, from initial idea to action was slow, and interrupted by a nice (and absurdly large) Mexican lunch and a pair of margaritas. But I'm back at it now. So hopefully tonight I'll have a tracklist for you.

Great Day is off Flaming Pie. It's a Paul alone at the acoustic with double tracked harmonies piece, similar to Blackbird and Mother Nature's Son. As all the other tracks have big Jeff Lynne (and in some cases imitation Jeff Lynne) and George Matrin production I thought an understated intimate piece would be a great way to close this fictional album.

Oh, I know the song, and Flaming Pie is one of my favorite McCartney albums. I thought there might be an "inside Beatles" story behind "Great Day", though. The song did originate from an earlier period, didn't it? But, you're right, it makes a nice album closer. Your comp (and soon Luther's) is good summer listening music.

Actually I think mine is going to be pretty heavy stuff.

Just a little note that my favorite Ringo song, "It Don't Come Easy" was included on the re-issued Ringo album. Grin

I know, but it is going to be counted as ineligible due to its 1971 true release date. Sorry. There are also some hits not being included because they don't fit. So if you expect Band on the Run or Jet...

I have made a fictional early 70's Beatles album as well, I used material from 1970 through 1973;

Band on the Run
Jealous Guy
Every Night
Run of the Mill
Oh My Love
Junk
Meat City
Maybe I'm Amazed
Mind Games
Another Day
It Don't Come Easy
What is Life
Remember
Back Seat of My Car
Instant Karma

And besides, it's pretty safe to say you either have all the albums/songs in question or could acquire them easily enough and do your own damn comp!

But that being said I'd like to see what you came up with Luther and if Sherrif John Stone or anyone else has done a similar comp. It's always interesting to see different approaches to the same idea.

I just did some googling on Paul's Great Day, it seems it has no Beatles connections, it was written in '72 and considered for Red Rose Speedway.

OK, this is the first draft of a complete running order. Obviously, I reserve the right to make significant changes why- and whenever I want, and once I give it a few full listens in order (I haven't yet!), I'm sure I will.

One
Big Barn Bed (McCartney)
Don't Let Me Wait Too Long (Harrison)
Tight As (Lennon)
Deep Blue (Harrison)
I Know (I Know) (Lennon)
Step Lightly (Starr)
Sue Me, Sue You Blues (Harrison)
Let Me Roll It (McCartney)
Living In the Material World (Harrison)
Out the Blue (Lennon)

Two
Photograph (Starr)
One More Kiss (McCartney)
Intuition (Lennon)
Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth) (Harrison)
No Words (McCartney)
Only People (Lennon)
Six O'Clock (Starr)
Little Lamb Dragonfly (McCartney)
I'm the Greatest (Starr)
My Love (McCartney)

Could you try and end it with the medley at the end of Red Rose Speedway?? I love that beyond words Grin For some reason, it always makes me smile...

UPDATE: Seeing that you just posted your first line up...my suggestion may be a little late...but I can still nudge Grin

I like the Beatles a bit more than the Boys of Beach, I think Brian's band is the tops---really amazing. And finally, I'm liberal. That's it.

Sorry, I already end the two-disc set with a long McCartney piece, then a little Ringo/John epilogue, then another longish McCartney. So the medley is out of luck! (Or you are.)

The joke would be on me if I hadn't had more than my fill of 1973 former Beatles today.

Getting psyched to see Dylan on Tuesday....needed a new comp for the car....I actually see Love And Theft, Modern Times, and Together Through Life as fitting together sonically and lyrically, leaving Time Out Of Mind to sit with Oh Mercy and Under The Red Sky. Anyway, I came up with this; it kinda rocks:

Bob Dylan 2001 -2009

1. Thunder On The Mountain
2. Someday Baby
3. Huck's Song
4. The Levee's Gonna Break
5. High Water (For Charley Patton)
6. It's All Good
7. Beyond Here Lies Nothin'
8. Forgetful Heart
9. Rollin' And Tumblin'
10. My Wife's Home Town
11. Jolene
12. Shake Shake Mama
13. Tweedle Dee And Tweedle Dum
14. Mississippi
15. Summer Days
16. Can't Escape From You
