Good stuff, Music Machine. If there's any record company execs reading this board, you might've given them an idea....The Martin Scorsese Soundtrack.... police

I just did one of Fleetwood Mac, my personal favorites from the 1972-2003 era, I'll resequence it, it's in chronological order for the most part and can be better sequenced...:
1. Sentimental Lady-4:35
2. Hypnotized-4:48
3. Forever-4:04
4. Say You Love Me-4:11
5. Landslide (from The Dance)-4:28
6. Rhiannon-4:11
7. Why (from Mystery to Me, maybe my favorite Christine track BTW)-4:56
8. Go Your Own Way-3:38
9. Silver Springs (from The Dance)-5:41
10. You Make Loving Fun-3:31
11. Tusk-3:36
12. Gypsy-4:24
13. Wish You Were Here-4:45
14. Big Love (from The Dance)-3:06
15. Seven Wonders-3:38
16. Little Lies-3:38
17. Miranda-4:19
18. Throw Down-4:02
19. Goodbye Baby-3:52
20. Songbird-3.20

A few tracks that almost made it were "Love in Store," "Save Me a Place," "Bleed to Love Her," "Sisters of the Moon" and "Tango in the Night."

TdHabib, you have some good material to work with there. I would be interested in seeing how you sequence it...

Okay, here's my stab, sequenced as a relationship between a man and a woman, starts off great and then falls apart...much like Lindsey and Stevie, John and Chris, Stevie and Mick etc. etc. Just an idea, but I think the material works it out...

1."Big Love"-great curtain-raiser, gets the energy flowing, Lindsey's brilliant on this one L
2."Hypnotized" BW
3."Sentimental Lady" BW
4. "Forever"-all three of these flow great into each other: attraction, love, love will last forever... BW
5. "Little Lies" C
6. "Seven Wonders" S
7. "You Make Loving Fun" C
8. "Say You Love Me"-all great romance songs C
9. "Gypsy"-not quite sure where to put this one? S
10. "Miranda"-"Miranda is always alone", possibly the first signs of trouble L
11. "Throw Down"-reconciliation S
12. "Songbird"-"I love you like never before..." S
13. "Landslide" S
14. "Tusk"-trouble again, "why don't you tell me what's going on...whose on the phone?" L
15. "Why"-more good questions "why don't you love me" C
16. "Go Your Own Way" L
17. "Silver Springs" S
18. "Goodbye Baby"-although written about Stevie's misscariage (of a baby with Don Henley), these three are good breakup songs S
19. "Rhiannon"-Dreams unwind, love's a state of mind S
20. "Wish You Were Here" C

"Songbird" and "Why" make good enders, but "Wish You Were Here" is my choice...

5 Christine songs, 8 Stevie, 4 Lindsey and 3 Bob Welch. Not enough Lindsey, but a good balance...For a real Mac treat, watch this clip from the 5 minute point onward---and they say Stevie and Lindsey's relationship is over!: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_VpziqDzyxM (BTW, my son is the "HabibTh" who commented on it...)

I'm working on an Elton comp which will be done soon, he's one of my favorites so it'll be interesting...

I forgot about "Farmer's Daughter," but with a band like Fleetwood Mac it's kinda silly to even do a single CD when there's so many different sides to the band...Still, I enjoyed doing it.  And I quite like the "Farmer's Daughter" cover.

Good work, Music Machine. Nice career-spanning compilation. I like how you ended it; good choice to go with that particular live version. One omission that stood out to me - no "Waterloo Sunset"? But, I guess there's a lot to consider in only 80 minutes...

That's a good compilation, but two omissions stood out to me: "Celluloid Heroes" and "Sitting in My Hotel," two of my very favorites.

Just for the heck of it...

A Wilson Family Christmas

1. Little Saint Nick - The Beach Boys
2. Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer - Carnie & Wendy Wilson
3. The Man With All The Toys - Brian Wilson
4. The First Noel - Brian Wilson
5. Hey Santa! - Carnie & Wendy Wilson
6. Blue Christmas - The Beach Boys
7. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree - Carnie Wilson
8. Deck The Halls - Brian Wilson
9. Merry Christmas, Darling - Carnie Wilson
10. Dennis Wilson Christmas Message
11. Christmas Day - The Beach Boys
12. Let It Snow - Carnie & Wendy Wilson
13. Frosty The Snowman - The Beach Boys
14. White Christmas - The Beach Boys
15. Winter Wonderland - Carnie & Wendy Wilson
16. Winter Symphony - The Beach Boys
17. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Carnie & Wendy Wilson
18. On Christmas Day - Brian Wilson
19. Jingle Bells - Carnie Wilson
20. Child Of Winter - The Beach Boys
21. Morning Christmas - Dennis Wilson
22. We Three King/Silent Night/The First Noel - Carnie & Wendy Wilson
23. Joy To The World - Brian Wilson
24. We Wish You A Merry Christmas - Brian Wilson

Notes: I decided to leave off "We Three Kings" by The Beach Boys because it appears on the Carnie & Wendy Wilson medley, which is essential. "What I Really Want For Christmas" and "Christmasey" got strong consideration, but I'll listen to them on my own. This is designed more for the casual fan. That being said, "Winter Symphony" and "Morning Christmas" are included to expose the casual fan to something(s) great! Late scratches included "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" (yes, I really like the track) and "Auld Lang Syne" (as a potential closer). You could do a Volume 2 of more obscure cuts and even include gems like "Snowflakes", "Time To Get Alone", and maybe even Brian's "The Christmas Song".

I just did one of Fleetwood Mac, my personal favorites from the 1972-2003 era, I'll resequence it, it's in chronological order for the most part and can be better sequenced...:
1. Sentimental Lady-4:35
2. Hypnotized-4:48
3. Forever-4:04
4. Say You Love Me-4:11
5. Landslide (from The Dance)-4:28
6. Rhiannon-4:11
7. Why (from Mystery to Me, maybe my favorite Christine track BTW)-4:56
8. Go Your Own Way-3:38
9. Silver Springs (from The Dance)-5:41
10. You Make Loving Fun-3:31
11. Tusk-3:36
12. Gypsy-4:24
13. Wish You Were Here-4:45
14. Big Love (from The Dance)-3:06
15. Seven Wonders-3:38
16. Little Lies-3:38
17. Miranda-4:19
18. Throw Down-4:02
19. Goodbye Baby-3:52
20. Songbird-3.20

A few tracks that almost made it were "Love in Store," "Save Me a Place," "Bleed to Love Her," "Sisters of the Moon" and "Tango in the Night."

Any compilation that omits 'That's All For Everyone' is a mountain of horsepile.

Would you people be willing to upload your mixes as a torrent or something? I have no time to track down all those songs listed individually but am interested in listening to music I haven't heard before! Send me pm or something.

I wanted to make a Dennis Wilson comp to give to a friend, and for me to put on in the spur of the moment. I wanted to focus on the POB/Bamboo material, and I wanted to pick only the best (IMO) songs. I didn't want to fill an entire 80 min. CD (might be too overwhelming, could be a downer), and I wanted it to flow nicely, highlighting all of Dennis' moods. This is what I came up with, it times out at about 58 minutes, criticisms are welcome:

Dennis Wilson

1. Pacific Ocean Blues
2. Tug Of Love
3. Dreamer
4. Time
5. You And I
6. Moonshine
7. Common
8. Thoughts Of You
9. Holy Man
10. Rainbows
11. Only With You
12. River Song
13. Love Remember Me
14. Farewell My Friend
15. End Of The Show
16. Piano Variations On Thoughts Of You

Just saw this thread and thnk it's a good idea.
A few years ago I made two Elvis Presley-compilations. I used some more unknown but great stuff. I didn't wanna focus very much on the hits, although I used some. I didn't do it chronologically, so there's some jumping between mono and stereo. Here are the tracklists:

1. My babe (live '69)

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

This is my "So You Think You Know The Stones" compilation playlist. My purpose is to showcase a more mellow side of The Rolling Stones. There are a couple of hits here but not too much. All these are top notch Stones songs. Great vocals, great melodies, great emotion.

01. Saint Of Me - A song that sums up the Stones' attitude.
02. Fingerprint File - A very under appreciated riff.
03. No Expectations
04. This Place Is Empty - 1st Keith song on this comp. Very moving.
05. Loving Cup
06. Out Of Tears
07. Love In Vain
08. 100 Years Ago - "Dontcha think it's sometimes wise not to grow up?" Great line!
09. The Worst
10. Indian Girl
11. Shine A Light - One of my favorites. Gotten a little popular since the concert film.
12. Worried About You
13. You Got The Silver
14. Memory Motel
15. Already Over Me
16. Moonlight Mile - Their most epic song. A perfect closer.

No "She's a Rainbow"? That was quite possibly the Stones' finest hour!

I felt "She's A Rainbow" was too wide known for what I was going for. "2000 Man", which I prefer over "Rainbow", was on the list until some trimming needed to be done.
