I had a band recording in my studio the other week who I really rate. The Dukes Jetty from Rugby UK
Have a listen to what we recorded here: www.myspace.com/analogueatticrecording
Because they are so 60's I cut them direct to 4 track reel to reel in the old fashined way.

I'm not in this band by the way! But I did play 12 string on one cut.

I checked out the site and was pretty surprised to hear what I heard. The songs were pretty good from what I listened to, but did you say that you did those recordings on a four track? If you did could you enlighten me a bit because I liked the sound you got.

Thanks,
Tony

Thanks! Yep, everything on that player was cut on 4 track.   A Teac 1/4 inch reel to reel machine running at 15ips.
Actually the track for one of the songs on the player was done on cassette 4 track.
There's really no need for 24 tracks as long as you make your decisions when recording instead of at mixdown.
Remember Revolver, Rubber Soul, Pepper were all done on 4 track.
