Way better than the album - not that it takes much!

I gave this a 4, it's a thoroughly enjoyable documentary film. Brian and Mike on good terms is thrilling to see.

Or watching Al and Brian in seperate interviews retell how the latter caused the former to break his leg in a bad football play.

I like this one because it's very funny at times. Mike is a riot.

I totally enjoy this one every time I see it!! It's great to see the country singers embrace the Beach Boys music and make the songs their own, and the footage of the Boys, as has been said, is priceless stuff. I especially enjoy the Tammy Wynette parts, with her and Brian sitting together listening to 'In My Room'. Beautiful.

Overall, I think it's a good documentary. Good to see the boys in laughing and joking in their working environment!

However, for the great tunes on there it is balanced out by the cheesy / crap performances too. The good ones I thought were Don't Worry Baby (the best), Sail On Sailor, I Can Hear Music, Caroline No, In My Room 409 (fantastic guitar playing by the performer)

The others, well are either forgetful or too bad to warrant another play.

Beach Boys vocals are great, Matt Jardine is especially great at the falsetto part! He's absolute spitting image of his dad!

And WHY WHY WHY do  they always ended with a naff, cabaret, fun star version of Barbara Ann all the sodding time??!  Evil

And the DVD extras - Sylvie Simmons in a cowboy hat talking about the darker points of the group - Manson, drugs and death. I'm surprised the Beach boys would allow something of no relevance to the documentary on there....?

Still hard to believe they decided to do this instead of an album of Brian's new songs. No. Wait. Not hard to believe at all, it's the Beach Boys, kings of bad career decisions...well, they might share that title with the Kinks...but that's another story. Willie is great, Rodney Crowell is pretty good, and Timothy B does a wonderful job on Caroline, No, but who the hell are Doug Supernow and James House? I know country music, but not these guys. Heard of Collin Raye, but can't say I know any of his songs. Much of this is just forgettable. Kathi Troccoli sure is easy on the eyes, though  Cool

I watched this again last night, and noticed Carl is not present for a lot of the backing vocal sessions. When he is there, there's no question about who is in charge. I wonder how much of S&S he actually sings on?
