  Hi,

I've recently obtained a 3LP Smile on colored vinyl.  1 disc has "Brother Records Bag o'Tricks" on label and Cat.# ST=9002-C, other labels are blank.  Cover is plain white with pasted-on paper cover with original Frank Holmes drawing on front and track listings on back.

Any info will be greatly appreciated,

  Thanks,

Welcome on this board mld277.

I think I have this one as well. (there are not that many 3LP-SMiLE-with-coloured-vinyl releases I'd imagine...)

A good find. I think it's a late 80-ies (maybe early 90-ies) release. The packaging sounds less familiar though. Although mine als has that cover with the original Frank Holmes drawing on the front and the complete tracklist of all 3 LP's on the back, but it's not a copy on a plain white sleeve, but an original print. All 3 records should have labels on it. And on top of that my sample contains a fold-out poster of the Frank Holmes drawing + a bunch copies of several work-sheets (stapled together) of several SMiLE-songs.

So maybe yours is a rerelease of the original. Could also be an incomplete original with a “new” cover (because the original one got lost/damaged or something like that). Don’t what’s the tracklist on your copy, but if side F (b-side 3rd record) contains Brian’s SMiLE-sessionparty, then we’re talking about the same release.

It came out in 1993 I think or 1992. It's got very good sound and is a pretty good pressing. Bootleggers copy each other all the time. It sounds like either it's a repress, or that they ran out of the original sleeve. However it could posiably be the 2 LP Smile put in with one of the 3 LP set records. Is Can't Wait Too Long on it. If so it's a combo of the 2 and three LP sets

  Hi,

Thanks for all the info.  This issue does not have "Can't wait too long".  Upon first listen I discovered that two of the discs are duplicates with the same matrix #'s of sides 3 and 4.  It does have "Brians Smile Session Party" on track listing but that disc is missing.  I called the SF Amoeba where I purchased the LP and found out that they had gotten several wrong copies and thought that they had removed them all.  They are refunding my money.

  Thanks again,

Having once checked out the 3LP SMiLE set many years ago my recollection now is that it had the same song list and sequence as the legendary Vigotone boot.

I've got the 3 lp set too. It came with a poster, session work sheets and a re-print of the booklet. From what I know it's the same track list as the Vigotone set.
