Thanks to the mod of the California Saga-board I was reminded of this song which was certainly Brian's inspiration for GIOMH.

Anybody know it? It's by "Little Anthony & The Imperials" and sounds very familar...

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Well, I think I'm goin' out of my head
Yes, I think I'm goin' out of my head
Over you, over you

Frank Sinatra covered it also...

Musically, "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" had a big influence on GIOMH as well.

Whoa, don't know Sinatra's version. Sounds interesting.

I just wondered because Brian even used a small part of the melody for GIOMH. Never saw it mentioned on many boards.

Especially the original Wilson-Paley version.

"Goin' Out Of My Head" was released as a single in 1969 (the B-side "Forget To Remember" is a hidden classic), but it is more commonly found on the Reprise CD Frank Sinatra's Greatest Hits Vol. 2, among other compilations.
