For anyone whos interesting, Wolfgangs Vault have a new Beach Boys concert at their site:

http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/ConcertDetail.aspx?id=20049683|7141&utm_source=NL&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=071017

Pretty interesting that they play Shortenin Bread, Roller Skating Child & Peggy Sue

The review below is pretty funny too:

"Dr. Elliott Landry, the controversial psychiatrist"

I thought it was of more interest that they listed Carl as playing bass. It's a pretty good sounding show though.

Interesting but not unusual...The group ALWAYS featured a couple of songs from their recent albums, including the late 1970's, when they were thought to be exclusively dependent on their oldies catalogue.

Well I've never heard of them playing Shortenin' Bread live.. I'm sure they did on other occassions but I never knew they played that in concert. Peggy Sue wasn't really played that often either I don't think. It's not so much the fact that they NEVER played songs of their recent albums around this era, It's just that those particular songs are of interest (which is what I said in my original post)

Bruce sounds great on In My Room.
Is Brian actually screaming "a fight!" or rather "oh f*ck!" in the first lines of Sloop John B? Not that it matters... His voice however sounds a lot smoother than on the Knebworth recording, kind of sweet even.

Roller Skating Child, while not quite as energetic as the Love You recording, is a blast. Arguably one of those Beach Boys tunes bordering on the bizarre, it's also one of my very favorites.

Great show but the liner notes are bad.

"My family, the Beach Boys".

I just thought I'd bump this topic back up, in case a few people haven't seen it yet.  Smiley Somebody definitely does yell out "Oh f*ck!" during "Sloop John B.". Now that would have been a great "fly on the wall" moment to witness backstage.  LOL

I've not listened to the "Wofgang" version yet, but I've had a soundboard tape of this show for years.  Some firecrackers go off (during "Sloop" if I remember right), and you can hear Al respond off-mic with somehting like "Oh, I'm scared!".  The "Oh f**k" might be related to that.

And, when I saw them for the first time later that year, they did "Shortenin' Bread" and "Roller Skating Child" as well as three other cuts from the "L.A." album.

Doesn't this recording miss out several songs from the show, including more recent stuff like Good Timin'?

Yes, they played too "Sumahama" and "Lady Lynda". They even played a few seconds of "409".

The quality is amazing. They sound great!

Also, holy shi* there are full 10cc concerts on this site. Incredible, it's the old lineup too!
