Very poorly done if real. Glad it never came out like this.

This is a great and utterly disgusting example of pop's immoderate obsession with hair.

Hilarious!  Reminds me of the Beatles Monthly magazine.  In late 1966, the mag was so short of 'current' phots of the Fabs that they briefly published older photos of them with very badly 'overdubbed' facial hair.

I very much doubt its authenticity...for one thing, it is stamped with "Deleted Record - Not To Be Removed From Capitol Tower", whereas by 1971 the rights to "Pet Sounds" were owned by Warner/Reprise (who re-released the album the following spring).  Secondly...it just LOOKS bogus.  And oh, HOW bogus!

Am I the only one who thinks that that cover looks cool in an alternative way? I mean the original wasn't much etter and the fake-hair shows some strange humour, like Brian does too....

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

It looks poorly done but surely that's because it's a mock-up of the potential idea, rather than being the finished artwork? I may be wrong as I only read it quickly but if it's a mock up it would look crap and isn't therefore proof that this is a scam.

I've seen this somewhere before.  Someone brought it up on one of the message boards, but I'm not sure if it was on ebay back then or what...
