Agreed re timeframe. The shirt Dennis is wearing is the same as worn in group shots circa mid-83. There's a nice full-color pic of the guys from the summer 83 tour in Milward's 25th anniversary book. How damn young they all still were! I don't think Dennis looks terrible, but things were catching up with him for sure.

What about the earliest pictures of Dennis & Carl? Anything with the umbilical cords still attached? Any pictures of Mrs. Wilson while she was pregnant with the younger 2 Wilson boys?

Anyone ever seen the two avatar pictures at the top of this site? They look like they could've been taken in 1983, don't they?

I can't believe how different Dennis looks in the latter years of his life. It's so sad to see. There are pictures where he doesn't look so bad but then others (on bad days I guess) where he looks about 70. The pictures above are Dennis at his best in my opinion.

In my early days of BB fandom I actually had some difficulties recognizing his face in some of the early-80s footage. That said, I think he still looked pretty cool at least most of the time. And then there's that video of the group performing the 1981 (or '82?) BB medley on TV where he almost looks like his POB-era self. Fascinating how he would change styles so drastically from time to time.

Phirnis, I'm guessing it depended on how sober he was that day. I've seen a picture in 83 that I personally don't think he looks too bad in but others view as really quite bad. I guess it helped when he was smiling too.

Dennis didn't smile much in the last years of his life. I guess he may have been missing some teeth, because his mouth is closed in all the group shots from 1980 to 1983.

Is that the early 1983 gig where Landy "allowed" Brian to play with the band before going back into seclusion for a few more months?

Denny was still looking fit at that late point. He seemingly couldn't grow a gut/pot belly if he wanted to, even with all that drinking.

This of course is far from being the last picture of Dennis and yet it has a strong connection to his end. The following was posted by Ed Roach on facebook (Dennis Wilson 1944-1983). Thanks for sharing this Ed! I felt strange when I saw it...

Funny how life gets in the way at times; had to neglect DW's page for a few days.
However, I had read people discussing the things Dennis was diving for 'that day'.... This is the image he pulled from the ocean floor, undamaged & tightly sealed in a sterling silver frame.
Was absolutely blown away years later when Karen told me that after that day it forever sat on her mantle. They both found such piece & contentment in the image; only hope they have truly found it now

Captured some good vintage Bruce Johnston mic adjusting too.

That's a nice pic Ed put up today.

Those '83 photos really show how quickly Dennis changed facially, it must have been so upsetting to see him like that as a brother/friend. I really think it depended on how he was each day during the last year as the photo I have seen from later on that year doesn't look that bad. Well, that's my opinion.
