What is the story about these, I think I may have missed it. I've seen a lot more pics of Brian doing toothy grins (Al Jardine style) the last few years, are they really new teeth? Why did he have them? What happened to the old ones? Did he have false ones? What are they made of?  Huh

New teeth as of a year or two ago - according to the man himself, $60,000 worth.

That'd be two years - he already had them in some promo pictures for WIRWFC.  Grin (<- appropriate smiley)

... What are they made of?  Huh

They're made of recycled keys from a piano once owned by Elvis.

I'm guessing they're caps. But they could be false, I suppose.

Yeah I was going to say, I noticed it in pictures accompanying Smile interviews, maybe they were an extravagant part of the publicity!

Yeah, there's pictures in the BWPS booklet with the new choppers. There probably not all caps; a lot might be those veneers which go over the existing teeth. Expensive nevertheless...

I guess that all ties in; the album was called Smile. I always thought it was Brian finally confronting those Smile dentists, I mean demons. police

There was an interview which took place in Aug. 2004 I believe when Brian was rehearsing for the upcoming U.S. "SMiLE" tour. Brian commented in the interview that he needed to leave early to get some work done at the dentist, so I believe the new and improved teeth dated to around this time. His new smile is apparent in the live "SMiLE" DVD performance (taped in Sept. 2004 I believe) and you can tell when the various interviews were shot for "Beatiful Dreamer" depending on whether Brian has his new chops or not. I've noticed that Brian seems more gregarious and confident in this documentary once his new teeth are in place (although this could be related to the favorable response "SMiLE" received in Europe and/or to Brian's mood swings in general).

I would have been more scared to go to the dentist than to finish SMiLE if I were Brian.  Razz

I feel so wrong laughing at that, somehow.
