Yes, this song has been overplayed on the radio.  Yes, a lot of us are sick of hearing this CCR/Ike & Tina  T. classic!

But I still like Brian's version (only on boots so far).  It's got a real 'funky' grove and the synth sound kinda reminds me of 'BB Love You'.

I say 'yea', release it on the next album.  Maybe the last track of the album.

I love it.  Grin If he doesn't re-record it in the future, I think he should release his version from the 90's(?). I LOVE that bass-brass/synth riff every time Brian yells "Rollin'!". It's so funky!  Cool

When I saw him at the Lookerse Feesten, three years ago, he announced that they would play it at the next show. Of course, they didn't. I guess it was an example of Brian's humor.

Brian & Band played it during a soundcheck in Germany, 2004.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

I too say yea...release that sucker! Brian made 'proud mary' sound like a Brian Wilson song. Great energy on the chorus, especially when it smashes in at the end after the soft verse. Love it.

I'll just give you the short answer

"BW does 'Any damn song he wants to record and release'"

Hell yeah!  Proud Mary will be great because he's had his heart set on it forever, any song he can get behind passionately I would love to see him release.

I really don't like the booted version I've heard. But as someone else said, he can do whatever he wants. Maybe a new version would be more up my alley.

Really? That WAS the show after the one I've seen. I remember checking the setlist from that show to see if he played it.

Nah. He's used the best bits of it in the LOS "Goin' Home" anyway.

Would fit in nicely to a "rock n'roll" album.

After  hearing Brian's new 'TLOS', I think it would fit nicely on the end of his next album.

AGD - Do you  have any session info on the 'Proud Mary' version in circulation?  Is it a Paley/Wilson track? Musicians?
