For me one of the things which make so many Beach Boys songs great are the intros, the first few seconds. As part of my general curiosity trip, I wonder, what are people's favourite intros?

Myself, I'd go for the intro of Kiss Me, Baby from the Today album. (Which, following advice on this board, I picked up a couple of Todays ago)

Many to list. Island Girl is pretty cool, California Girls is a classic and the intros to DW and Getcha Back are beautiful. I could list a dozen more, at least.

California Girls has the best intro ever.

And I'll also go for an often overlooked song, "In The Parkin' Lot"  Smiley

Wouldn't It Be Nice.  Actually, the whole Pet Sounds album is full of incredible intros.  After that, Brian went through a period of writing songs without any intros at all.  Good Vibrations, Heroes and Villains, Wonderful, Surf's Up, Cabinessence, Time To Get Alone, etc..

I wouldn't say that's totally true, after all, how about "Breakaway" - one of the best in my opinion. The "ooooh" and "wahoo" vocals and densely packed instruments tell you straight off it's going to be a full-on effort - my favourite is the lick of wah-wah guitar in the break, just before the first verse. Mindbogglingly brilliant.

- "Sloop John B"
- "Dance, Dance, Dance"
- "God Only Knows"

I sometimes wonder how much the musicians - specifically The Wrecking Crew - had to do with the opening arrangements.

No vote for "Problem Child"?  Grin

I wonder that no one mentioned "In My Room".

I like the intro to "He Come Down".

"In The Parking Lot" ranks up there with the best of them.  The intro overwhelms the rest of the song actually...

It may be just a simple drum beat, but when it's joined by those amazing harmonies, the opening of "Don't Worry Baby" still makes me tingle after having heard in thousands of times.
