I was just reading a book on rock 'n roll trivia (it's dated 1980, so some of the information might be incorrect) which said that Daryl Dragon played on the Beach Boys 1965 "Help Me Rhonda".

Is that true?  I thought he didn't appear on the Beach Boys scene till about 1969 or so?

I'm almost 100% that he didn't play on it.
BTW on the Today-version, the harmonica was played by Sun Records-legend Billy Riley

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

He played on Terry Melcher's version of the song, I believe.

He did play on lots of Beach Boys songs, though.

Ah, that makes more sense!  That's what happens when  a trivia book tries to cover too many areas I guess - there is bound to be some errors.
