Beach Boys tried to recruit member of the four freshmen

I am listening to some four freshmen live songs and they mention that the beach boys contacted them and asked if Bob would join the beach boys to replace brian. They kind of make fun of them after they mention it, but oh man that would've been so cool.

I'm assuming they mean, to replace Brian for live performances ONLY, and not as the leader of the group?

Yeah that's what I meant. I mean it would be so cool because they could recreate their sound perfectly on stage. Even if that guy was around as an extra voice on recorded material that would be sweet.

I meant to say yea that the live recording of the four freshmen was probably around the time when brian had his first breakdown and quit touring and they were looking for replacements.
