This is on Yahoo news, question is - is this the one with Queen on or the one off the album?;

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/wenn/20080517/ten-foo-fighter-hawkins-replaces-wilson-c60bd6d.html

By WENN world entertainment news - 50 minutes agoFoo Fighters star Taylor Hawkins is set to take the place of late The Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson on an upcoming commemorative single.

(Advertisement)
Hawkins will provide vocals for Holy Man, which will feature on an updated version of Wilson's 1977 acclaimed solo album Pacific Ocean Blue, which will be released in the US on 9 June.

The single is slated for release on the same day as the reissued double-CD LP, which will act as a tribute to the star, who died in 1983 after drowning at Los Angeles' Marina Del Rey.

And Gregg Jokobson, who co-wrote and co-produced the original album, insists the Foo Fighters drummer was an obvious choice to replace Wilson, because of his similar sounding vocal talents.

He says, "I always said, 'Taylor, you sound just like Dennis.' Taylor is just a natural. He came in, he did the vocal within an hour and I really think he knocked it out of the park."

I'm just hoping no one confuses Taylor Hawkins with Taylor Mills...they both have long blonde hair, yknow, and sing with a Wilson brother...

That is one mistake that Dennis would not have made.

Question for those in the know....
Is the version of Holy Man that is included on disc 1 of the legacy set a instrumental?

and if it is, are the lyrics from Dennis's sessions or new?
and is there a scratch vocal track of Dennis's that can be heard  someday (nudge, nudge wink winkk)?

Yes, as AGD said DW's orig. track is instrumental as heard on disc one, Talyor's vocal is added to that singing Gregg J's new lyric on disc two.

Is this a vinyl single? If so what is the B-side?

But is the melody from DW or did they write a new one?

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

The melody is DW's. I think there was a brief bit of Carl scatting the melody somewhere on an outtake, not really a usable thing, but pointing to the melody off mic, as does DW's piano progression on the actual track...which really has the melody inherent within it.
