....You know, with the wonders of the internet, with wav. files and transfers and stuff, you can collaborate and record with someone half way around the world. Why  don't you try that, instead of waiting for someone to actually move to LA? ....

Yeah, I remember one time I formed a band with someone I knew; we would talk things through on AIM, he would record the basic track on cassette, then I'd get the cassette, pop it in my tape player, crank up the volume, and then record over it.

And we lived not even ten minutes away from each other. Talk about lazy!

You might be better off posting on the Los Angeles version of craigslist.org in the Community/Musicians section and listing your musical tastes and talents.  I'm sure there are plenty of people in the area that love the Beach Boys/Brian Wilson that might want to form a band and perhaps live in close proximity to you.  You won't find them all on Smiley Smile board.  Good luck and have fun with your band, if you get it going.
