Just saw this on iTunes (via a link on the Beach Boys Band website).

Guess it is now ok for individual members to market themselves as "... of the Beach Boys".

Is this a new number for Mike's long awaited solo album (possibly a replacement for "Cool Head, Warm Heart" which was issued on the recent Hallmark album?

As for Hungry Heart; why does it soooo remind me of Kokomo.

One review on iTunes made me bust out laughing!

I think Mike covered it because he noticed how much 'Getcha Back' sounded like it.

Springsteen originally wrote the song for the Ramones, but his manager convinced him to record it himself giving him his first #1 single. I haven't heard Mike's version, but I think I can imagine how it sounds and that's enough for me!

I only listened to  the small section on itunes and it sounded well produced though 'blah'.

I'm not a big ML fan but I have to give him credit for making an effort and making new music.  And I will buy his solo album (if it's ever released), if only for the sake of keeping my BB collection complete.

The problem with ML is that too much Mike Love (ie a solo album) is just too much ML.  Two or three ML leads works well around leads by Brian, Carl and AL.  Mike by himself for 60 some minutes is just brain numbing.  Same was the case for Brian with 'GIOMH".  Alot of medicore songs around banal vocals.

Is this the same version he did a few years ago?

It appeared on the covers album Tribute to the Beach Boys by John B and the Surfin' Safaris, along with Al's Papa Loved Mama. I think it's the same version. Al's tune is also on iTunes by the way.

It originated on a Springsteen tribute album a few years back.  Not a bad cover but nothing particularly special.
