Fool's Garden "Lemon Tree". So damn catchy!  Listening

TV THEME SONGS

Welcome Back, Kotter by John Sebastian  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZzEzDkeHzI

vs

Happy Days by Pratt & McClain  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqyP5QV3Ol8

I'd go with Kotter, I guess.  In honor of the recently departed Stan Freberg:

FREBERG JACK WEBB/DRAGNET TAKEOFFS

St George and the Dragonet (supposedly a faster-selling Capitol 45 than I Want To Hold Your Hand):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT3QYb7AN6k

vs its more politically oriented flipside, Little Blue Riding Hood:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_WhtSNG2wI

(There's also his "Christmas Dragnet" but it's way too early for that one.)

Whenever I think of "Go West" I think not only of the Village People's original, but about the clip below.  It's labeled "Official Music Video" but I think it's an appearance on German TV just before Victor Willis quit as lead singer.  David "Scar" Hodo is missing his hard hat (and his shades) in it, so you know something strange has taken place before shooting. It may well have involved Randy "Cowboy" Jones who looks like he's been raising his customary heck someplace, even more than usual.  Pretty funny stuff.
Funny clip indeed, I like to mock people dressed like clowns, ha! but that version blew, not as catchy as the cover I talked of.

Back to track. That's very interesting, I love sketches. The rabbit/ dragon one is entertaining.

"Want some sugar?" type of songs: I'd choose neither, tbh:

Bobby Vee "Take Good Care"

vs.

The Ronettes "When I Saw"

As much as I like The Ronettes, I have to go with Take Good Care.

"The Gnome" is one of the few duds on "Gates of Dawn". Such a bore. David Bowie tune is VERY funny, I like off-the-cuff crazy stuff with looping & so on.

looney tunes:

vs.

4 Instants - Bogattini> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gSb-v2LceM

both have silly slurping noises.

Going with Merrell Fankhauser's Tampa Run because I like its fast booming beat. By For Me The Rain is a terrific song too though.

Actually gonna have to go with King Of Carrot Flowers, much as I love Macca.

Come And See Her - The Easybeats

I'm voting for the Ox on this one.  The Who with Boris.

Great bass riff.  The Who never get any credit for inventing death metal.

Next?? you must offer 2 songs so we can pick one of 'em. Hence the game name.

Sorry about that.

How about some late 60s, heavy pyschadelic covers

Vanilla Fudge - You Keep Me Hanging On

vs

Deep Purple (MK1) - River Deep Mountain High

I agree with you.  While Vanilla Fudge excelled with covers, Purple did their best work later on with original music.

I'm giving the edge of River Deep, Mountain High to The Animals.  I'm a bigger fan of The Animals than Tina Turner.

Speaking of The Animals, here's some late 60s Animals:

"San Franciscan Nights". Next:

"Brady Bunch" theme song

vs.

"Partridge Family" theme song (surely, everybody's familiar with these 2 shows?)

I'm probably one of the few Americans in my age group to watch neither of these programs. But I heard those theme songs a lot, particularly the Brady Bunch one.

I prefer the Partridge Family theme song. It's more interesting musically, and it harkens back to the inspiration for the show, the Cowsills.

Jolly good. To continue game, list 2 songs, then next poster picks which they like.

Hard to pick songs.

Decided to pick 2 favorites from my wild days in the mid 80s. They are great in your face songs. If you are unable to find these online I'll try to get to a computer to post links, but assume that they should be easy to find as they were hits.

The songs:
In the Middle of the Road - The Pretenders
Would I Lie to You? - The Eurythmics

Chrissie Hynde and Annie Lennox were both in top form.

Either song isn't my bag but pick Eurythmics - much better voice (anything is than Chrissie Hynde's).

"Look Through Any Window" by Hollies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odzYoYk9lWI

vs.

"(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay" by Otis Redding https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISxskvJ9FwI

Hollies song is good but Otis Redding's song is iconic and one of my favorites. I remember feeling sad hearing the song back then since Redding was killed in a plane crash shortly after recording it.
