Yea, he's one of my favorite artists.  Have you heard the new song off the follow-up to 'Honeycomb'?

Nope.  Actually, the only records of his I'm still missing are the two you listed and Honeycomb.  But I am looking forward to Fastman Raiderman (if I got that right).  Isn't it a double album now?  I'll probably wait for the real record to come out before hearing anything, to be surprised.

Yep, it's supposed to be a double album.  I'm counting the days.

If you're interested in hearing the new song, it's at the end of the Frank Black podcast on www.frankblack.net.  It also includes a KICKASS version of "Gouge Away" (performed by Frank and the Catholics).

I know "De Capo" isn't conventionally as "great" as "Forever Changes" or whatever, but it's my favorite Love album. Most people diss "Revelations" as being too tedious -- which it is at times -- but there are some parts of it that are just incredible. There's a solo -- alto sax? -- where the band locks into a hard vamp behind it, and it rocks as hard as anything on "Fun House," which it sounds like a direct antecedent to. Of course, the first half of the album is utterly unassailable and is maybe the best thing Love ever did. (The version I was listening to is the mono/stero reissue, which is fodaing essential. I'll listen to both versions back-to-back sometimes, like today ... )

When I was 7, my folks picked up one of those bootleg "hits" collections called 24 Happening Hits. It was one LP, which meant you got edited versions of songs, and the tracks were obviously transferred from 45's.
A lot of greats ther, Western Union, Little Girl by the Syndicate Of Sound, Turn Down Day by the Cyrkle etc.
But the one that slayed me then was My Little Red Book by Love. Just loved the sound and attitude.
Shortly afterward, I inherited a parents' friend's 60's 45 collection and in there was the Alone Again Or/A House Is Not A Motel 45. I loved it, particularly Motel.

Bout 3 years later, my folks and I started frequening thrift stores and I started grabbing whatever LP's looked cool. At a used book/comic store in Burbank, out of a small stack of LP's, I found a copy of Da Capo.
When I got home, I put it on, expecting something cool, but not mindblowing.
The sound of Stephanie Knows Who exploded my brain.

The Franklin Mint plans to authorize a figure crafted of fine pewter to commemorate this landmark moment as part of their forthcoming "Great Moments in Ian" series.

Yep.  And I liked your story.  I was going to start a separate thread until I saw you did a recent post on Love.

Yep, Ian. Great story. I came to Love through the Move's cover of "Stephanie" on the 'Something Else' live EP, but I didn't get 'Da Capo' 'til after 'Forever Changes', so it was all a bit confusing...then to find the Byrds-Stones of the first album.
