I know of some of the compositions for outside artists by Brian (eg: Yes Sir Thats My Baby etc..) but I never knew of Muscle Buscle by Donna Loren apparently written by Gary Usher, Roger Christian & Brian Wilson. What other songs are written by Brian Wilson besides the ones off Pet Projects?

Surf Route 101 - Jan & Dean [w/Jan Berry & Roger Christian]
Pamela Jean/After The Game - Survivors
The New Girl In School - Jan & Dean [w/Jan Berry & Roger Christian]
Muscle Bustle - Donna Loren [w/Gary Usher & Roger Christian]
I Do - Castells [w/Roger Christian]
She Rides With Me - Paul Petersen [w/Roger Christian]

Thanks for the correction Andrew. The only reason I believed it was this: http://www.kt.rim.or.jp/~face/bb5/index.html website. The guy claims that everything that is featured on his website (ie: 45's) is in his personal collection and then if you go to the 1964 page and scroll to the bottom and click on Donna Loren link it says that Muscle Buscle is written by Brian Wilson (which I assumed before that he got that information from the 45) but now Im thinking that he doesnt own all of this stuff or he wouldnt have to make stuff up. Still a decent website though. Cheers Andrew Smiley

I'm a bit confused...

The web site correctly attributes the song 'Muscle Buscle' (sic) to Gary Usher, Roger Christian and Brian Wilson, and 'Yes Sir, That's My Baby' is noted as being written by Irving Berlin (sic, again!).

Fair enough, I thought it was some late 70s lost classic, but then I saw who he wrote it with... Huh

Sorry Andrew, I totally misunderstood the WHOLE situation. Partly cause I was just about to do an online test that was goes towards by degree (dont know why I was on the board just before hand - just to calm my nerves Razz) Anyway, i DID know that Brian didnt compose Yes Sir I was just in such a rush I got mixed up between production/composition. Anyway, thats besides the point, I guess Brian did compose the Donna Loren song, very strange I think. I never knew about it, and a lot of the other songs Andrew mentioned in the list. Anyway, thanks for the info Andrew. Smiley

These songs:

Muscle Bustle - Donna Loren [w/Gary Usher & Roger Christian]
Muscle Beach Party - Annette [w/Gary Usher & Roger Christian]
Surfer's Holiday - Annette [w/Gary Usher & Roger Christian]
Runnin' Wild - Frankie Avalon [w/Gary Usher & Roger Christian]

were written for the Muscle Beach Party movie soundtrack, hence the varied artists. I'm no great fan of them - typical Usher meat & potato stuff, very thin and uninspiring.

One more thing  - Brian's only involvement with "Yes, Sir..." was singing a bv on it. Didn't write it, didn't produce it. On my website, I've listed the known songs he produced outside of the BB - http://www.btinternet.com/~bellagio/productions.html -  and the tracks that the BB guested on - http://www.btinternet.com/~bellagio/guesting.html. I think both are about 95% of the way there.

Has anyone compared the original soundtrack versions of these songs and the ones released on vinyl/CD?  Apparently they are two different versions and rights permission was not available to release the soundtrack ones on record.  Brian was more involved with the production of the soundtrack versions, correct?

That's one of the gray areas in BB history - Brian & Usher produced the soundtrack versions, but the songs were re-recorded for the album releases, with no BW participation. However, those who know more of these things than I do are certain that some of the vinyl (as opposed to celluloid) releases use the BW/GU produced tracks.
