I'd like to compile the recording dates for Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE.   What was recorded, and when?

I know it was done quickly. I think in the summer of 2004.

As I recall the band recorded the tracks over the course of 3 or 4 days...vocals took longer though.  Brian's took about a month and a half I think.  Don't remember how long the band backing vox took but that was probably at least a few weeks as well.

Try looking in the booklet - they're in there.  Roll Eyes

OK, I'm feeling amenable:

Basic tracks recorded at Sunset Sound  April 13th-17th

Overdubs (and vocals) and mix at Your Place Or Mine April-June

There's an excellent article on the sessions in the October 2004 issue of Sound On Sound, or here - http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/Oct04/articles/smile.htm

PM, that is a great article.   I was hoping someone might have more precise information, as in, what was recorded on each of those days in April, not unlike what we have for the original SMiLE recordings.  However, you have reminded me to put back the link to that article in the SS Library!

There was also a great cover story in EQ, with a shot of Brian on the cover (pre-'60s SMiLE, but smiling like an idiot, in a cool way).  I think the Sound On Sound article might have the edge, but the EQ article is still well worth having.
